Great Trip (Second Time)

| This is the second time we chose Dana Wharf and, again, we had a great time. Apart from the sea lions and hundreds of common dolphins, we observed a pair of California gray whales swimming South. The crew is very knowledgeable and they are working really diligently to find whales. We went on this trip last January (with kids) and found whales, too. Highly recommended. BTW If you are going on an early (10am) trip bring your coffee. Most coffee shops are closed and the one that is open charges almost $4 for a cup of so-so coffee. | ||||||

| The organization and process of ticketing, boarding, and disembarking was great. The crew was nice and they tried hard to find some whales in the two hour cruise. We spotted some riso dolphins near the end of the cruise and got up close for some good pictures of them. The ship was clean and comfortable. They did give us a $5 discount on fishing or whale watching later on. | ||||||

| Eventhough we didn't get to see any whale, but the experience was great! We saw lots of dolphines, and it was fun to see how the dolphines interacted with us (/the boat). Just out-there in the ocean, was relaxing and enjoyable. | ||||||

| I thought when I booked the tickets, if we didn't see any whales, we would get a raincheck for another day. We did not see any. I was disappointed, and so was my family from out of town. | ||||||

A great place to take an out of town visitor

| This is a gem of a place to take an out of town visitor. On our trip, we were able to see a whale (a part of it at least), and many many dolphins. The ship was nice, the crew were laid back, and they were eager to find the whales---and get us close to view them. The experience was amazing---and we'll definitely be back when other people come visit us. | ||||||

| We saw a whale, the same whale four times as it came up for air. There were many dolfin swiming and jumping along side the boat. We had a great time. Of course, a whale sighting is not for certain, but our outing was great. | ||||||

| The trip itself was terrific. The crew took good care of us, and they were very knowledgeable about ocean life. We didn't see any whales or dolphin (maybe those are more difficult to find on the evening sailing), so they gave us all coupons for a future ride. I had been out with this company before when we located and followed a super pod of dolphins; it really depends on luck and timing. The only reason I gave it 4 star instead of 5 was the scheduling difficulties. Our first trip was cancelled because they changed their schedule, then our second trip was cancelled due to weather concerns and not enough spots reserved. They handled it all very professionally, but it made the lack of seeing whales a little more disappointing. | ||||||

| This was my first time ever at deep sea fishing. The crew where encougaging and reassuring. I caught four fish, threw 3 back and enjoyed one for dinner, with leftovers to freeze. It was a very fun experience and I recommend it. | ||||||

| The wife and I went on the half day trip in the middle of september. The crew was extremely helpful and the trip was a blast. Good fun for everyone involved and un-like everything else in california they did not nickle and dime you to death. | It was a great day at sea! We went on the 5pm trip and saw dolphins and sea lions. We didn't see any blue whales, but the trip was still awesome because it is well worth just the boat ride alone. You can move around the boat at your leisure (we were on the Sum Fun and it was not crowded) and if you stand at the bow you can get splashed with water. I would go back for a gray whale expedition in the winter. I would highly recommend this trip for vacationers and locals alike. We could see Saddleback Mountain. The only area for improvement might be for the Captain and Skipper to give more information on points of interest along the shoreline as the boat heads back to shore. | ||||||

| While we did not see any whales on our trip, the dolphins made the trip worthwhile! Our 8 year old son loved seeing the dolphins swim around us and under us. This trip is something you will never forget. | ||||||

| We didn't see any whales but we saw a pod of dolphins that were very playful and interactive with the boat. It was quite a sight! The ride was very smooth, no one in our party got sea sick :) The crew was very informative and made me feel quite safe. We would take this adventure again someday. | ||||||
