Strategic boat position to facilitate whale watchg

| The crew members presented a very informative dialogue on whale history. The captain always had a good view of the whales as the boat was always pointed toward whale location. Guests gravitated to side where whales were sighted. It was not always possible for all guests to have a look at the whales. If the boat had been strategically positioned, everyone could have had a better view. | ||||||

| The boat I was on did not see any dolphins or whales, only sea lions. However, we received tickets to go again for free. I'm happy that I didn't see anything the first time, because now I get to go again. Even without the animals, the ride was the perfect time and the weather was beautiful. The views of the coast and water were gorgeous. | ||||||

| I received this trip as a birthday gift. I had been whale watching in different places 3 times before, and had never seen a whale, so I was hoping to see one this time. The captain, crew and naturalist were fabulous, very interested in our comfort and questions. They had charts and books onboard to further educate us. We had plenty of room to sit and see. All at once, there was a Gray Whale, a juvenile male, going the wrong direction! He was friendly to us and let us get closer, showed us his fluke and flipper and he lounged in the sea. He stayed near the boat for quite awhile. "Happy Birthday!" the naturalist said to me. On the way back dolphins played in the wake of the boat, we saw a Sun fish, and two other whales. Also sea lions, pelicans and all kinds of other birds. One lady took beautiful pictures and emailed them to us. This is a birthday I'll never forget! | ||||||

| The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw many dolphins, some whales and sea lions as well as many varieties of sea birds. The lunch was great and very relaxed. | ||||||

| This is the third whale watching trip I've taken and the best I've been on. The longer trip (4 hours) meant we could go further out (and South) than we could have on a shorter trip. The group was a lot smaller than on the whale-watching boats and the structure of the catamaran means there are many great spots to watch from. The crew was friendly and the naturalist was knowledgable and enthusiastic. I enjoyed it so much that I'll be going back this summer for a blue whale experience! | ||||||

| Absolutely enjoyable day. Of course the boat isn't as smooth as, say, the quick boat that goes over to Catalina, but still pretty great. We took the four-hour trip. There was definitely an hour in there that many of us felt seasick. But I think we've all agreed that this was well worth it. Had two 8-year-olds with us that were absolutely besides themselves with joy. Saw glimpses of gray whales, a rare molo molo (sunfish), and lots of dolphins playing in the boat's waves. The marine biologist on our trip was absolutely excellent. She is so enthusiastic about what she was doing that it was contagious. At the beginning of the trip when the kids were a bit bored she got out special supplies for them to keep them interested and learning. I highly recommend this trip. | ||||||

| We were very fortunate to see a whale within 15 minutes of departure. Our captian followed him for about 45 minutes, so we all got to see it a dozen times as it surfaced for air. If we hadn't seen a whale on the trip, I would have been very dissapointed and probably not recomend the trip, although the scenery was beautiful. | ||||||

| this was everything the web site promised and more. I especially liked that the boat was not overbooked (in peak season) and therefore not overcrowded. There was plenty of room for my 8 year old daughter to be able to see. Wonderful activity for children, very educational and exciting. | ||||||

| We saw a whale the last 10 minutes of our excursion and the staff was nice enough to hang around a little longer and we were late getting back to our dock. I felt like the staff was nice and friendly, but I wished they would've educated us more on the ocean life and whales. My 4-year-old son was more excited about just being on the boat, but after 30 minutes that wore off. I've been on other excursions where they have music in the background adding to the fun and they tell you more about everything you are seeing. | ||||||

| I've been on many whale watching trips since I has in junior high and I finally saw one. It didn't come out of the water very much, just breathing. I was able to catch with my digital camera. This definitely made my weekend, being the Festival of Whales and all! | ||||||

| The instructions from Dana Warf were clear and easy to follow, from the driving directions to what to do when you arrive. Easy to buy tickets on Zerve, too. Boats were clean, people were very friendly and professional. Also, the food in the galley was tasty, and not over-priced. (for example, Hot dogs were $1.50). If you had fun, be sure and drop a bill in the tip jar at the top of the ramp when you're getting off of the boat. After the whale watching excursion, we went to the Ocean institute which is right there at the harbor, and spent the day. Neat place, high school and college students studying marine biology work there and are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Took the guided tour (Jena was our guide) out to the tidepools and had a blast exploring and discovering a ton of tiny sea creatures. I would recommend this trip to anyone, and plan to do it again next year. May visit again this summer as well. We live in the California desert, and will be taking out of state visitors there to experience the Southern California beach and maybe a boat ride on the ocean. | ||||||

| We didn't see any whales for the first hour and fifty minutes. It was a two hour trip and we were headed back to port when our captain heard or spotted one out a little ways. Instead of heading back, which he totally could have, he took us out there to see it. We were so grateful that he decided to do that for us, despite the fact that he would be running behind schedule. My four year old daughter was just floored. It was a wonderful day for us and I would recommend this company to anyone. And we are planning the same trip next year, and probably many more years to come. | ||||||

Beautiful Morning at Sea

| We set sail on an absolutely beautiful March morning and the two hours at sea were a wonderful experience, despite the fact that only one whale made an appearance. The experience itself was great, my only complaint is that the captain did not give an overview of what to expect before setting sail. It was not until 1 1/2 hours into the trip that we stopped because a whale was in the vicinity. I think that an overview should be given so you know what to expect i.e., where exactly are we headed? which direction? will we sail until we see whales and then stop, or will we stop and wait? We had absolutely NO clue as to what would happen for 2 hours, except the obvious. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. Not recommended if you experience motion sickness though. I do and took dramamine and it did not help. Made the last leg of the trip rather green! | ||||||

| The guys were awesome, I had bought the last 8:00am ticket online, buy needed another ticket for my partner unfortunitly it was all sold out. To keep the story short, I call and speak with Chris and he told me to bring my partner with me on the day of the trip in case there was an opening. So we showed up, they had done a great job adding my partner to the 8am trip with no hassle. To top it off we had a wonderful experiance eventhough we didn't see the whale(s) until the last 15 min. of our trip. We definitly do business with them again. | ||||||
