No Whales but Who Cares

It was great being out on the ocean, and we "parked" in a pod of dolphins and had a great time watching them frolic. I swear they planned their jumps to void the cameras! And they seemed genuinely happy to see us and genuinely reluctant for us to leave when we did.
Oh, and we saw a sea lion. (I called it a seal and one of the crew corrected me with a good natured chuckle.)
The crew was friendly and professional and quite knowledgeable about where we were going and what we were seeing.
The trip was so enjoyable, I didn't even regret the prescription glasses I managed to drop overboard on the way out of the harbor. Really! |

The boat, The Dana Pride, was clean and safe and our skipper was educated and very knowledgeable about the mammals we hoped to see, from whales to different dolphins etc. He did not dumb-down his narration and I liked that. As it happened the fog rolled in and we didn't see any whales so we got a whale-rain-check - much appreciated. Boat crew were friendly and very agreeable. We shall be back soon. Thanks. |

I went there with my fiance and 1 year old daughter and we had a blast. We saw fin whale and a pod of over 2000 dolphins. The best part was that it was my fiance's first whale watching trip and her and my daughter had a blast. The crew on the Dana Pride was very knowledgeable and my fiance, who is affraid of deep water and the ocean, said she felt very comfortable on the boat. We all can't wait to go again. |

We tracked a mum and a calf grey whale up the coast which was great to see, we also found a large pod of dolphin which was fantastic.
The captain and crew were excellent guides. |

We had an incredible tour - the captain went quite a distance to locate wildlife to see, and even gave an extra side trip at the end of the tour to see a bunch of dolphins.
We followed two whales - a cow and her calf for 45 minutes, but the 50+ dolphins we saw playing and jumping in the waves at the end made for an incredible tour!!! |

We went with our young children and felt very safe with Captain Jack and his crew. The boat was calm and maintained this way the entire trip. Captain Jack and his crew were very informative about the whales and dolphins we saw. I would highly recommend this to anyone! |

My family had a fantastic time on your whale watching tour. We especially appreciated how knowledgeable our guide was, we learned so much about the California Grey Whale that we were lucky enough to see. And, it was clear that the guide and the captain had a great deal of respect for this beautiful animal, and the tour was conducted in a way to not disrupt their migration. All around, a wonderful experience! |

Our family consisted of young adults and seniors. We thoroughly enjoyed the outing and recommend it highly to anyone in the area. In addition to the whale watching we enjoyed the information given to us while we searched for whales and dolphins around us. |

We're from OC and it's our first time to go on whale watching at 4pm schedule. I'd say the boat trip alone was refreshing. We spotted group of seals swimming so fast and 1 whale from a far. The whale was from a distance and we're not able to have a closer look. It's no disappoint at all because it's nature you're up against. You cannot tell a whale to swim near the boat. Having said that Dana Wharf was so nice to return our tickets for another chance to see the whale. Ticket can be used again anythime within the year. All in all the experience was awesome! |
