Didn't see whales, but dophins made up for it

| Keep in mind that on these kind of trips, it is really up to your luck whether you'll see any whales / dolphins / other marine animal. When I went, I was 90% sure I wasn't going to see anything at all, so I viewed this merely as a nice excursion with my girlfriend out to the sea. So when the dolphins showed up, everybody got really excited, and for me, that's an extra bonus. I think the trip would've been nice even if we didn't see anything, but of course, when we did, that was a pleasant surprise! | ||||||

| We didn't see anything and there we lots of little children running around yelling at themselves. A few of them fell each time they came out of the little cafe in the bottom of the boat by tripping over the raised floor panel in the doorway, and I guess that was kind of funny. | ||||||

| four of us found it a delightful day to cruise and look for whales. We only found a pod of dolphin numbering over 1000, and the captain made sure we got to see them all. Crew was great, opening the galley for a late lunch. Nice trip even without a whale sighting. We'll do this again. | ||||||

| My son and I went and he enjoyed eventhough we didn't get any fish. Hopefully on our next fishing trip we will get lucky.thanks...food was also good. | ||||||

| Although we didn't see any whales, we saw an enormous pod of common dolphins. There were literally hundreds of dolphins around the boat for nealry an hour and they were very entertaining. The captain provided an adequate, but brief discussion of the common dolphins' range, etc. In light of the fact that we didn't see any whales, it would have been nice if the captain had filled in some of the dead time with more description of the dolphins, the whales that we came to see, and the history of Dana Point and Dana harbor. | ||||||

| A nice way to spend a couple hours with friends or family but it should be named "Dolphin Watching Tour." I have taken this trip 3 times in the last couple of years (in March) and have yet to see any whales. Although we have not seen any whales, at least we have seen dolphins every time - it was fun to see them. Can't expect to see whales every time but so far it has been 0 for 3. | ||||||

| Though it was a rainy day and we didn't see any whales the crew kept us out longer than one hour and gave us vouchers for another cruise. Good times! | ||||||

| After the trip was over and we had not seen whales, I felt that I had been had. We were told that we would get a free trip if no whales or dolphins were seen. The first thing the ship did was head out and show us dolphins, which was nice, but not what we had come to see. Then the next hour was spent cruising around supposedly looking for whales. I think they knew there weren't any whales in the area at that time and rather than be truthful up front and since they obviously sell tickets each day whales or no whales, it is a bit of a hustle. | ||||||

| Thanks to the Captain and the crew, the trip was safe and fun. We saw the whales backs but didn't get to see their tails coming out of the water. It was calm weather, calm waters, and most everyone had fun. | ||||||

| Highly reccommend the whale watching out of Dana Point. Crew are always professional and helpful, and trips have always found something... whales or dolphins. | ||||||

| We came at a bad time of the year for fishing seasons, but still had fun. We caught a few fish, and were treated good. The staff was helpful and always kept busy. I would recommend this service. | ||||||

| Basically a cattle boat with little interaction with staff. Ordinary, nothing bad or really good. Nice boat ride. You may want to spend more money and go with someone who has a better feel for whales. | ||||||

| Our first trip was canceled due to extremely bad weather, (12 foot waves, definitely NOT good for whale watching!) so we had to re-schedule for a week later. The service was great in this respect, very friendly and helpful. On the actual whale watching trip we didn't see any whales *or* dolphins however. They actually gave us back our tickets, which are good indefinitely! So at least we're very happy with the service overall. This trip was a LOT more professional and clean than a previous whale watching excursion out of Newport Beach... | ||||||
