We saw several whales and a pod of Dolphins. The boat was comfortable and not over-crowded. It was a great deal for the price.

Beautiful day - perfect weather - saw incredible pod of Dolphins (per Captain over 2000) - dolphins thrilled my 8-year old Grandson - saw Seal Lions, Sharks & Seals but no Whales. Crew members provided detailed responses to questions asked.

This is our 2nd year back Whale watching. The boat is a nice size and it is always clean. We did not see a Whale this time around. The Whale watching cruise offers a guarantee that if you do not see a whale, they will give you a rain check that will never expire. That is great customer service! The staff is always friendly.

Very nice experience...

OK, all we saw were two sea lions and no whales or dolphins, but that wasn't anybody's fault. Plus we got a pass to go out again for free. The captain and crew of our boat were great. The captain tried several different areas and kept us informed. He was very personable and genuinely sorry we didn't see a whale (although we did see a couple "spouts"). The boat was clean and the galley had reasonable prices.

No whales, but dolphins galore

The ship left about on time, the weather was good, the boat captain and everyone were friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. We didn't see any whales, but we had a great time as the dolphins frolicked with the boat. Great trip.

Call it a dolphin-watching cruise; then, people won't feel let down when there are no whales and excited when there are.

Fun to do once in your life

Though the weather was cold and windy, we did see one whale (they don't travel in pods, so it's really amazing that we even saw one, given the size of the ocean!). We also saw several small seals playing together, and 2 big sea lions in the harbor. There were approximately 40-50 people on the boat, and there was plenty of room. The crew were nice and informative. This is one of those things you should experience once in your life to say you've done it.

Wonderful Things We Saw

The weather was a bit overcast with intermittent sunshine. We left the wharf on time and headed out to "sea." Shortly, the narrator spotted dolphins that swam along with the boat - underneath to the other side, right along and out in front. There were "oohs" and "aahs" watching these wondeful creatures. After a while, we headed to a marker and saw "resident" sea lions baksing ini the sun. Then way off a bit north, there was a spray and it was a gray whale. We followed it for some time watching as it came to the surface and then disappeared only to come up a while further on its path south. We were able to get good pictures, too. We had an 11 and a 10 year old [boys] with us and they had a great time, too.

An Ok trip

We were under the impression from our limited research and the advertisments that we would see whales. We didn't see any. We did see dolphins, and the Captain was very knowledgable about the marine life.

very friendly, knowledgeable, and productive staff. Captain found fish -- everyone caught. My group of 4 caught enough keepers to provide a full dinner for 6 adults.

What a Gorgeous Day

I would highly recommend Catamaran Adventure Cruises. My boyfriend and I went on the 1pm whale watching tour out of Dana Point on Sunday 11/8. The reason I gave this a five star rating despite not encountering any whales or dolphins was the fact it was a gorgeous day on the water. The crew was friendly, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. They gave us all vouchers for 50% off of our next trip because we didn't have any whale or dolphin encounters.

Too short?

I recently took a 1/2 day fishing trip which was advertised for 5 hours. The boat left the dock around 12:45 PM and approximately 30 minutes later we made our first stop and began fishing. After several stops and a slow day fishing, the captain announced at around 4:35, that we would call it a day and started heading in. We arrived back at the dock before 5:00PM. Since there was still plenty of daylight left when we began to head home, and it was still light when we arrived, I wish we could have fished a bit more and kept closer to the 5 hour schedule that was advertised. On separate note, the crew was great and very helpful. A fishing clinic for the kids before we headed out was a nice bonus.

Better fishing off the jetty!

I fish down at Dana Point jetty all the time and catch a lot more. I only caught one fish the whole time, as did my friends. For the money, it wasn't worth it.
