disappointing-no whales seen

| It was disappointing in the fact that we did not see any whales. I know it is random but I wonder how hard the guides try to find the whales...........they seemed to be doing alot of chatting and talking on their cell phones. | ||||||

| We took this trip in February during grey whale season. I like that the boat wasn't overcrowded (we could see a different company's boat leaving at the same time and they were far more crowded than we were), and I enjoyed the information from the captain over the speaker. He was very knowledgable. We saw a large pod of dolphins and it was great fun watching them play around the boat for a while. Then we headed over to a rock off of San Clemente with seals and sea lions on it, and that was fun too. But we didn't see any whales and it felt like that captain knew fairly early that we weren't going to see any so he just showed us the dolphins and seals, and he didn't bother going out where there may be whales. | ||||||

| The staff and crew was great and the fishing was excellent. Good bait,, no large groups on boat and plenty of room to fish. | ||||||

| Good tour. Be prepared because it's really cold on the boat once you get going. It was actually warm at the dock before we left and once the boat started going the temperature appeared to quickly decrease, my husband and I were grateful we brought out coats. They have snacks on the boat too, so I warmed up with a cup of hot chocolate. We saw tons of dolphins and 1 whale on our tour. We weren't able to observe the whale for too long since we spotted it toward the end of our tour and the boat had to get back to the dock for the next tour. I would say it was worth the money paid..... | ||||||

| My wife and daughter went on this tour and honestly didn't think they would see a whale, but surprise they did. They also saw dolphins and sea lions the tour was extended because the whale was spotted on the way back in. Nice to see them not being clock watchers! The space and comfort were worth spending the extra money to go on the smaller group boat. | ||||||

| We were excited about the trip, especially after reading that there was a whale guarantee and that whales were seen all the time within the past week. However, we didn't see any whales, or dolphins, or really anything. What was more upsetting was that the boat just kept moving, but no announcements were ever made as to what was going on, why we weren't seeing anything, or any real facts about the marine life. We understood that there's no guarantees and that you might not see any marine life. But it was disappointing anyway. What added to the disappointment was the lack of updates or really anything being said by the company until we got back to shore. The boat just kept moving, passengers confused. We did get back, and they gave us our tickets back and said we could come back anytime we wanted for free. But I'm from DC...when I am I going to go back? So...$60 spent on two tickets for riding around on a boat. | ||||||

| Wow this was a 1/2 day I will never get back. If you are thinking about deep sea fishing I would look elsewhere. This is basically bait fishing with 40+ people crammed together on a boat standing for 4 hours. It is cheap but you get what you pay for. They give you rods/reels that can handle 20 pound fish but the largest our group caught was 20 inches. I catch trout bigger than that on 4lb test! Just don't go out thinking you are going to catch big ocean fish we caught nothing but sand bass and most of them were in the 10-15 inch range not what I expected from the ocean. | ||||||

| Although we did not see any whales, we did see hundreds of small white dolphins. This is our third trip aboard the DANA PRIDE. It is a beautiful boat. Very comfortable with a good captain and crew. The water was as smooth as silk and the trip was great. We look forward to our next trip aboard. | ||||||

| My friends came from Chicago and were staying in San Diego when they decided to go whale watching. I told them to come up here since it was more convenient to get tickets, get on the ship, and more pleasant surroundings. We went whale watching, and although we didn't see any whales(can't predict), we did see hundreds of dolphins, non stop. The ship was beatiful(Dana Pride), plenty of room to walk around or sit, inside or out. It was a beautiful day, the coastline was fabulous, and we got great pictures. My friends said it was an E ticket, can't get better than that. | ||||||

| It was a beautiful sunny day, although chilly. Warm clothing is recommended. We unfortunately did not see any whales, but did see a huge pod of dolphins that swam with the boat for quite a while. This made it all worthwhile. We would definately go out again! | ||||||

| We loved the ocean, watching the dolphins playing! Seeing a little bit of the whale was awesome! We booked the trip and went 3 times! It was SO much fun! The first trip we saw tons of dolphins and sea lions and 1 whale! 2nd trip we didn't see anything, but still enjoyed the boat tour! - And since we didn't see dolphins or whales we received our ticket back stamped for a free trip, so we took our 3rd trip & we again saw tons of dolphins and sea lions! We would definitely recommend this tour! The staff was GREAT! :) | ||||||

| Friendly, helpful crew made the fishing enjoyable. We caught enough fish for dinner without landing anything very large. It was winter fishing and we were satisfied with the day. Equipment rented was fine and bait supplied did the tick. | ||||||

| We had a very good experience on our whale watching trip. We saw a pair whales that the boat tracked for about 45 minutes. We also saw a few dolphins and sea lions. The captain was knowledgeable and did a good job at following the whales so we got to see them spout several times. I definitely want to go back out again during blue whale season! | ||||||

| I loved the trip but I felt with the money we paid for the trip we could have gotten closer to the whales. we were wayyyyy back. There was a ship right on top of them and sometimes in front so sometimes we could not see and that ship did its best to get in front. I did gets some good pics but it upset us. I just felt the Capt could have tryed to get closer. | ||||||
