I was disappointed in that the fishing was poor and I thought that at those spots where we encountered seals and sel lions that we ought to have moved, for my experience, althought it is alaska, tells me that when you are in the company of seals and sea lions, the fish are no where to be found. As a newcomer to your area, it would also have helped perhaps to give us an idea of where you were going to fish. You cant do much about those days when the fishing is poor, so take my thought with a grain of salt. Paul Costello Fairbanks

9-21-08: Beautiful day for a fishing trip! Hadn't been out on the ocean all year and was very pleased with this trip. Crew was friendly and helpful, the bite was ok. I remembered the fish counts don't tell you how much you actually catch and release, so the bite was better than fish counts indicated. Caught a wide variety of fish and didn't do any bottom fishing, so I was pleased about that. Just found out about Dana Kids, so next time, will bringing the young 'uns. Would highly recommend Dana Wharf to anyone considering it.

The captain and deckhand were extremely accommodating. It was clear from the moment we started fishing that their main goal was to help us catch as many fish as possible.

This was my first time out fishing in the ocean. My son and I had a lot of fun and we caught a few fish. The crew was wonderful and so helpful with getting the fish off the hooks and dealing with tangled lines!!! The service was excellent!

Dana Wharf Sportfishing is a great landing for fishing. It's easy to get to, close parking, no long walks on the dock when you are carrying your gear and a great staff. Every person in the shop and on the boat was friendly and helpful. The boat captain worked hard to put us on the fish. I've never had a fishing trip go this smoothly. We completely enjoyed our trip and will be back again real soon.

My friend Tera & I did the half day fishing on the Dana Pride Wednesday the same week. We loved it so much we blew off a wedding we were supposed to attend to spend the day fishing again on Saturday! We. LOVED. It!! Great crews on both boats - Dana Pride Wednesday, Oct. 1 & Sum Fun on Saturday, Oct. 4. She & I are beginner fisher girls & were REALLY worried about "getting in the way" - but the crew helped us out, fed us, kept the beers cold, & weren't bad to look at! : ) We will be back! Thank you!!

The trip itself was terrific. The crew took good care of us, and they were very knowledgeable about ocean life. We didn't see any whales or dolphin (maybe those are more difficult to find on the evening sailing), so they gave us all coupons for a future ride. I had been out with this company before when we located and followed a super pod of dolphins; it really depends on luck and timing. The only reason I gave it 4 star instead of 5 was the scheduling difficulties. Our first trip was cancelled because they changed their schedule, then our second trip was cancelled due to weather concerns and not enough spots reserved. They handled it all very professionally, but it made the lack of seeing whales a little more disappointing.

Everyone on board caught very little fish. I think this was partially due to the fact that the bait fish were too large. Although the crew was great and did their best to help us catch fish, I think on a planning level the trip could have been handled better. For example we could have gone to a better fishing ground, or gotten proper bait for the places we went.

We were given bait that was almost as big as the fish we were trying to catch!!!! I know this because I have taken this tour before. I really feel ripped off this time!!!! We would have had a better time fishing in a bathtub, than trying to catch fish with the huge bait we were given!!!!!!!! Very, very, very disappointing!!!!!!!! We will probably not book with them again!!!!!!

There should be more assistance for the people that have never been on a fishing trip. Example: When we arrived at the place we didn't know were to start who to ask for help. Once we went on the ship there were no assistance with the fishing rod as to were is a good place to put your hand, what to do for the reel to not get like a birds nest, etc... Some additional assistance would be nice. I had to ask folks that seemed to know what they were doing. Some would just ignore me. Other than that it was Great.

It was ok for taking friends that have never been deep sea fishing. However, the Captain kept moving around and picking "not so great areas" I felt we moved around too much wasting valuable fishing time.
