Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

Good day! nice day for an outtingon the water, friendly humorous staff,incredibly knowlegdeable. My daughters loved wacthing the dolphins swim right nex to the boat. They also enjoyed watching the seabirds dive into the water as the staff explained what the birds and dolphins were doing. Had a quesadilla from the lil "galley"aka kitchen it was good not too much and not too lil cheese, just right. Good time overall and recived a voucher for another trip at no expense due to not seeing any whales. I rate it a 9 out of 10. I'm not sure if I missed the instructions on where the restroom was located but there is one aboard the boat.

My husband and I decided to take this trip fairly recently. The reasonable price and Del Mar's proximity to our home (in the Palm Springs area) made the decision to go a no-brainer. We ended up getting so much that we had bargained for: a beautiful day on the ocean, sea lions in their natural habitat, and, most importantly, priceless quality time together without any of the day-to-day interruptions. very friendly, knowledgeable, and productive staff. Captain found fish -- everyone caught. My group of 4 caught enough keepers to provide a full dinner for 6 adults.

We saw two Grey whales and thousands of dolphins. The crew stayed out an additional 15 min. for us to get good photos. The trip was well worth the money. My grand daughter was thrilled.

Our 2-hour trip took us down the coast off of San Clemente where we found a large black fin whale. We spent about 45 minutes watching him circle around the area eating krill. On our return trip we stopped and saw California sea lions resting on a buoy. Everyone on the catamaran had a good view. The crew gave a very informative narrative.

great inexpensive activity for my out-of-town visiting family! a group of us ages 2-40+ went and all had a great experience on the ocean. we went on half of day, cuz were thrifty like that:) and also its nice that dana point harbor has free parking! cant find that at the other wharfs... Trip is just long enough and of course we saw a whale and many dolphins. also a few sea lions on the buoy. the boat was not overcrowded and plenty of room to see. and its nice that theres an inside area for those who may need a break from the wind, etc. Just go!

We had a friend visiting from out of town and I booked an evening blue whale cruise. I had checked reviews of whale-watching cruises in the area, and this Dana Wharf group was the most recommended. The captain did stay out about an hour longer than planned, so be warned--he is determined to find that whale (shades of Moby Dick). He did locate a blue whale and stayed in the area long enough to give us several views. He also spotted a couple of sunfish and a school of dolphins on the return. Ship was clean, mood was convivial. Highly recommend. I want to go again!

We were lucky in spotting three gray whales and a pod of thousand dolphins. The captain was very knowledgeable and he took every possible effort to make sure we experienced a fun whale watching trip. The trip was totally awesome and my family enjoyed it. We are planning to come back for the summer season!

the crew was friendly and more then willing to assist with any needs. I'm glad i chose a night trip mostly because of the number of people that can fit on a boat it can get very full, shoulder to shoulder full! the weather was a bit windy when i went causing the temp. to drop and the fish to not eat. I did catch one fish! But hey it's not called catching it's called fishing! i was just as happy to be out on the water watching the sun set and losing bait to a family of pesky seals. I would recommend going! The rates are very reasonable and it's fishing!

We had a wonderful time on the OCean Adventure Catamaran. My teenaged daughters loved it and want to go back and bring a group of their friends. Captain Larry and the Naturalist, Morgan made the trip a great adventure. We saw thousands of dolphins and one whale. We'll be back!

We had a great time, the crew was the best, loved all the information given about the whales during the time the whales where diving.
