Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

My mother, best friend, and myself had a great time on this whale watching excursion. We saw two grey whales, a pod of dolphins, and some adorable seals. Thankfully the crew also handed out 50% off coupons for the next time and I can't wait to use them! Thanks for a great tiem!

Such a great experience! The day started off slow with just a few dolphins but the trip ended with TWO Gray Whales! We got to hang around for about 20 min and got some good pictures! I whale watch through Dana Wharf often and will definitely be back!!

Amazing....our captain stayed out over our scheduled time when we came apon 2 whales and one of them actually showed his tail...........Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Really made my weekend!!!!! Thank you sooooooooooo much!! :-)

The day was wonderful. Unfortunely, the whales were hiding on us, but the dolphins were out to play. The staff was wonderful and very friendly and courteous. Would go again...

We had beautiful weather and the boat ride was delightful. We saw dolphins and seals but no whales. They provide you with a "whale check" (when no whales are spotted) to be used again at no charge which is a nice courtesy. Would definitely do it again--lots of fun and so nice to be outside!

Crew was Very friendly. We only seen dolphins for about 10 minutes, they were swimming along with the boat, got some great video. We did not see any whales and was a little disappointed, but did not blame this on the company , it was a beautiful way to start the morning with the boat ride and as we were getting off the boat the crew members gave everyone a free pass to come back again. Made my day as they did not have to do this. Will definetly be back again and will bring some more friends with us. Excellent customer service. Would recommend for everyone.

I found a coupon at UCLA that advertised this company for whale watching. I went there (90 minutes driving from Los Angeles) on march 4 2012 and it was ridiculous. I wasted money and a sunny sunday. We were supposed to leave at 2pm for a 2 hour long trip. The boat departed at about 2.15. Pretty soon we found some common dolphins, nothing special. Initially I could not understand why the boat was stopping so long in that place, but then I realized why. They don't care about finding whales, just they want to show you a dolphin so that you can not be reimbursed for the trip. So the boat stopped for long time in that area with dolphins, and then basically it went very slowly back reaching Dana point at 3.50 going very slowly. It was much less than 2hours. Absolutely no effort to find whales. There is something very bad that I noticed. Very close to Dana point there was 1 single dolphin. I suspect it's there so that when the boat does not find any dolphin during the cruise, it can always find that dolphin when it is close to dana point, and no ticket can be reimbursed. This is indeed the last bad thing that happened. Since I booked a ticket after having read some advertising about whale watching, their policy instead is that 1 single dolphin is enough not to reimburse the ticket. This is ridiculous, even more in light of the fact that there is a dolphin just close to Dana point. Summing up, don't waste your money and your time with them.

Smooth and comfortable boat ride. Our leaders went the extra mile for us and took us out 7 miles where we were awed by the antics of two humpback whales right by our boat. Neat thing was, the crew were just as excited as we were! Rare sight to see these whales--sometimes they are only viewed 4-5 times a season. Would do this again in a heartbeat.

It was my first whale watching trip and even though we only caght a glimpse of a southern grey snorkeling the hundreds of dolphins and other animals spotted were a welcome site. I won't hesitate to try anothet ride the next time I'm in town. CJ from Iowa

We had a great time. We were excited to see the whales and even though we saw 2 different type of dolphins (which the captain did a great job of explaining) and sea lions, we unfortunately were unable to see whales. I do give credit to the captain for going out further to find them.

We are 10 friends that belong to the Red Hat Society. This was our February outing (2/25/12) - two days after the large group of dolphins were spotted. We did not see any dolphin but we did find a grey whale and followed him for about an hour. The crew of the boat were very informative, helpful and a lot of fun. We had been on a whale watching tour out of Santa Barbara last September and the crew was a dud compared to the crew we had on Saturday.

Perfect length of tour. Perfect amount of passengers on ship. I have been on other trips that lasted way too long and had way too many people on the boat. We had a great time!!!

Had a great time, crew is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would have been a great experience even if we had not seen any marine life (but we did) and the crew was very informative as to what we were seeing ,why and also a little marine biology lesson thrown in. I do not hesitate to recommend this trip to any and all. Enjoy!
