Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We had a great time, enjoying the fantastic weather and scenery. We saw sealions and dolphins and finally some whales. The crew went out of their way to try to ensure we saw some whales and actually over ran the sailing time to do so. Very friendly and informative staff.

Spent last Wed (2/21) on the afternoon whale watch with my son and his friend. The crew was TIRELESS in their efforts to find whales, going over the allotted time by almost 45 minutes. Thanks to their patience & know-how, we saw four fin whales--GLORIOUS! That's on top of seeing a pod of dolphins, which are always amazing to see. We go on about two whale watches a year, and we are always so happy with DWS; they also happen to make the best grilled cheese sandwiches in the galley!

Perfect length of tour. Perfect amount of passengers on ship. I have been on other trips that lasted way too long and had way too many people on the boat. We had a great time!!!

I always wanted to see a whale and i got my chance. it was an awesome experience!

This was overall a fun trip for our family. We saw tons of dolphins the only disappointing part was with the wale. We saw one wale which was not very active at all and the boat hovered about 200 yards away for the majority of the trip instead of moving on to see if there was anything else around to see. The crew was very friendly and educated just a little disappointed with them just staying with the one wale for most of the trip.

Dana Wharf Sport fishing and Whale Watching is an amazing company to go whale watching with. This was my first experience with whale watching, but the captain was very knowledgeable about the whales, dolphins, and sea lions. The crew were also very knowledgeable and helpful. They let us know what to look for so that we would be able to get the best pictures. It was an incredibly amazing experience and I would and have recommend this company. The fact that they offer a half-price day allowed me to add this when I normally wouldn't have.

Had a great time, crew is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would have been a great experience even if we had not seen any marine life (but we did) and the crew was very informative as to what we were seeing ,why and also a little marine biology lesson thrown in. I do not hesitate to recommend this trip to any and all. Enjoy!

Beautiful day, calm seas, and we even saw a whale which was very entertaining.

The boat was clean....we cast off on time....the crew was helpful and talked to everyone......knowledgeable.....AND We had a whale frolicking next to the boat for almost an hour. The whale and dolphins and sea lions seemed to be playing with each other and keeping up with the boat.

For my 56th birthday I decided to treat my parents, spouse, teenage AND adult children and grandchildren (ages 2,5,6 and 11) to whale watching at the Dana Point Harbor. We have gone before and had a fun adventure for the day. Although last year when we went for Valentine's Day we had a spectacular day (seeing not only whales, but dolphins and seals) this year our tour guide left the whales we spotted first thing, to visit a pod of dolphins. Turned out that we never did get to see whales for the day. In addition, our guide ignored a number of seals sun bathing and zoomed right past them. I guess because we had such a fantastic trip last year this year was a bit uneventful except for the 15 minutes we had with the dolphins! I understand that depending on the day and time we don't always see all three of these amazing creatures however we might have had the guide followed the first whale he had spotted and also taken us for five minutes to see the seals! All-in-all the trip on the ocean was fun, the boat very comfortable and the hot chocolate and snacks were tasty! We are planning another trip out to see the whales with my brother when he comes to visit from Northern California. This time I will ask the guide to see the seals too! I would definitely recommend this activity for all ages and especially families with children!

We were treated to one finback whale and some dolphins. The boat was comfortable and clean. The grey whales are pretty much gone now. Left Berins Sea early this year because of weather and are already in Mexico. Might be a good idea to let people know that before booking. All in all a nice trip and worth the 2 hrs. Decent family activity for two hours. Was able to see fin whales at close distance.

Guides were very informative. Only problem were adults who sat on table tops and blocked view for children and shorter adults.

My whole group had a wonderful time on this trip: we saw so many dolphins, a few whales, and learned so much about where we live. I want to do it again next week!

Pretty amazing trip, I will definitely recommend to family and friends.
