Went on excursion in hopes of seeing whales - there were absolutely NO whales in sight. We did stumble upon a pod of dolphins which were pretty amazing and quite playful. |

We only saw one whale, but there were dozens upon dozens of dolphins. Some were even jumping out of the water. I recommend the 2 hour tour; we were getting hungry by the end and I don't think we would have made it through 4 hours! |

We stopped to get live bait and didn't go more than a 1/4 mile from shore. didn't use the live bait and didn't catch anything but bass. overall it was ok, but if bass was the only thing being caught we should have been told before going out to fish. The people on the boat were great and very friendly. |

TRIP WAS FUN CREW WAS GREAT, SAW NO WHALES, GUESS WE WERE LATE
NO DOLPHINS EITHER BUT IT WASN'T A WASTE, THEY GAVE US FREE TICKETS
FOR SOME OTHER DATE.
THE PREVIOUS TOUR (12PM TO 2PM) REPORTED SEEING 1000'S OF DOLPHINS BUT NO WHALES
OUR TOUR (2PM TO 4PM) SAW NO WHALES OR DOLPHINS SO THEY GAVE EVERYONE FOREVER RAIN CHECKS
THAT CAN BE USED WHENEVER. THE TRIP WAS STILL WORTHWHILE JUST GETTING OUT ON THE OCEAN
AND SEEING THE COASTLINE FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. SEEING NO WHALES WASN'T THE CREWS FAULT, THEY HAD BINOCCULARS AIMED IN ALL DIRECTIONS. WASN'T THE WHALES FAULT EITHER,
THEY JUST WERN'T AROUND AT THAT TIME. REMEMBER THE OCEAN IS HUGE, AND COMPARED TO IT
THE WHALES AREN'T THAT BIG, NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK KIND OF THING. OVERALL IT WAS A FUN WAY TO
SPEND MY BIRTHDAY, BESIDES- THEY HAD A FULL BAR ONBOARD AND WITH THE ROCKING OF THE BOAT NO ONE KNEW WHO HAD TO MUCH TO DRINK AS EVERYONE INCLUDING THE KIDS WERE FAILING THE "WALKING A STRAIGHT LINE TEST" - HILIARIOUS! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO REDEEMING OUR "SEE NO WHALE OR DOLPHIN GET A FREE TRIP" TICKET. (WHICH IS A MORE THAN A FAIR POLICY CONSIDERING GAS PRICES THESE DAYS AND THE COST TO RUN THAT BOAT - THE (" DANA PRIDE").
ALSO DANA WHARF IS A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND A FEW HOURS ON EITHER END OF THE TRIP.
SO I SAY GO FOR IT. |

sort of sucks, period.
It was my Japanese friend's first sportfishing trip.
Only 5 SMALL fish were caught by 50 people.
She said "I will never go fishing again" after that.
Now you can imagine how awful the trip was.
Don't waste your money. |

Thank god for the dolphins and sea lions! Not to mention the bloody marys! All in all it was worth getting up for! Haven't given up on seeing a whale up close and personal! Until that day, The discovery channel will have to do! |

We went on a morning Whale Watch for my son's birthday party and it was GREAT! All the kids had so much fun! We didn't see any whales, but it didn't matter at all to the kids because we saw LOTS of dolphins and sea lions and they enjoyed just being on the boat! We will definitely be doing this trip again! |

We enjoyed a beautiful two hour trip and followed two California Gray Whales at a respectful distance on their trip down the coast. The narration provided by the captain and others was both educational and enthusiastic. The crew was as delighted as the passengers in observing these beautiful animals. Really enjoyed our outting! |

An enjoyable trip. The crew was friendly and informative, giving educational info about the wildlife. We saw sea lions and a very large pod of dolphin. Unfortunately the whales eluded us but the dolphin put on a delightful display and our captain maneuvered the boat so that we would get a great show. Weather was great and a group on the boat, about 100 students, along with the group we met who moved to CA from Paris, made it even more enjoyable. Can't beat the deal! |

I'm tempted not to write a great review for the simple fact that I don't want the secret to get out! :)
The Catamaran is the way to go if you want to get on the water and do some whale watching or sightseeing.
I plan on several trips this year, and did several trips last year. It's smooth, it has the capability to move faster if you spot something and want to get there quicker, and the best part? You're not elbow to elbow like you are on the fishing boats. There's a 30-something person max which guarantees you a super comfortable trip! And, the captains are incredibly knowledgeable! If there's something to find that day, you can be sure they will find it.
Nothing better than a day on this boat, some groovy reggae tunes, sun, and the big blue ocean! |

This is the third Whalewatching adventure i've been on this past month and was by far the BEST! In addition to the excellent weather - we lucked out-- dana wharf's catamaran is a great way to sail! This adventure, being an hour longer than the other tour (which is also great!) gave us more time to get to where we could see the grey whales. The dolphin love swimming in front of the boat and are incredibly fast! I think both tours are excellent but if you can afford the extra expense and extra hour for the catamaran cruise it is quite worthwhile. Hope to go back out again very soon! Thanks!! |

My husband and I took relatives and friends who were visiting us from VA, CT and KS. We had the most exciting ride ever. The day was perfect. We saw whales going south and whales going north which is quite unusual we found out. Some of the whales showed off their tails while other jumped clear out of the water. We saw about 8-10 whale jumps. Then as we were returning, a group (there were so many we could not count them) came along side our boat and put on a show for us . They were swimming with us and jumping up and out of the water. It was more that we ever exxpected and the Captain said it was the best trip of the season. I highly reccomend this trip to everyone of all ages. |
