Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We went on the tour on Jan-24-2012. The price was $18.00 per person (includes a $2.00 booking fee). My wife and I are from Montreal, Canada. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We saw whales and dolphins and the Captain of the boat went out of his way to give us the maximum time. Of course we were fortunate to see two whales and we followed them for a while. The thrill of looking out to spot these mammoth beauties was fantastic.The dolphins swam along side the boat and gave us all a real treat. Only thing when the captain spotted sea loins he did not tell us where. we did not see them at all.maybe had we been on front of boat? Over all a very good tour

Fortunately I was able find the right motion sickness med. Sunny day, 2 spy hops, couple of flukes, lots of dolphins close to the boat. Captain had hick-ups the whole time. Quality entertainment. Nothin' bad to say!

We usually try to take a whale-watching trip whenever we visit the area, usually once or twice a year. We don't always see whales, but are never disappointed. We saw gray whales this trip. The dolphins are always around and very entertaining. Also, if the weather is good (and it usually is) the trip on the water and the fabulous view of the coastline make the trip worthwhile. The crew is always friendly and very informative.

I live in a beautiful Victoria, BC which has it's own fleet of whale watching boats/etc. -- but to be out on the sunny coast of southern California in a lovely boat with a great crew was fantastic. I, my sister, niece and two cousins from the East Coast had a fabulous time as we watched two greys and tons of dolphins play and feed in the blue water during the very relaxing 2 hours on the Dana Wharf boat. The crew is well informed, friendly and reliable -- very organized and professional. If you don't take the time to go out with the Dana Wharf crew, you've missed a wonderful time!

As an advise, I really recommend if you don't like ocean, or you know you can have nausea, please don't go on board. Vomit is not something very cool, if you trow in the ocean, its ok, but inside the boat, not very cool. So, please, think about that and think there's other people with you in the boat. We were not able to see any whale, the weather conditions were not good, ocean very rough and many white waves. Basically it was a nice round trip in a boat for a couple of hours. They give us passes to go see the whales again sometime in the future. I love ocean, I didn't care much about not seeing whales, also because I live in the area, I can basically go anytime. It's just a matter of luck.

This was basically a boat ride close to the coast. Not even a remote sight of a whale took place. End of January is supposed to be a good time for watching whales but no cigar. I saw a lot of dolphins though but the ride is for watching whales, not dolphins. The company tried to make up for the lack of whales by offering a a 50% coupon on the next ride. LOL. Do they really think people are that stupid?

This was my 3rd excursion with these guys and we saw a whale!! Even if we hadn't, it would have been a great day just to be out on the water. The captain stayed with the whale for about an hour of the excursion so there was plenty of opportunity for all to take photos or videos. We've had the same captain every time and he's great! The crew is nice and the boat is clean. We won't go out with any other excursion company. These guys are the best.

Not one keeper caught! It was just a boat ride!

Whales must have been at lunch as we saw just small parts of 5 far off and no dolphins. Boat before us got treated to a pod of orcas!

Was soo cool to see all the dolphins, jumping. Was impressed that we saw 4 whales, even though they didn't give us the tail! It was a great time for a great price!

the whale watching tour was fun and informative. we saw a whale and followed throughout the tour. Snacks, food and drinks are available for purchase at a reasonable price. the crew were all very knowledgeable and friendly

Went for our anniversery. It helped me rememmber how beautiful our everyday surrounding really are. I saw my hometown through the eyes of a tourist.

It was a very enjoyable trip with an attentive crew.
