Wonderful Catamaran Adventure!
Fri, Aug 26, 11   12:00 PM Tabbbey73 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The guide and crew of the catamaran were great and within about 20 minutes of the trip two Blue whales were spotted along with hundreds of Common dolphins. Our guide was very knowledgable giving us information about the blue whales and the Common dolphins. This was truly a wonderful experience and I would reccomend this two hour trip to anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Life Affirming Experience!
1/2 Priced Catamaran Adventure Whale Watch Cruises

From the initial journey out to open waters, the deck of the Catamaran put us hovering just above the water.. It was moderately windy, so the waves heaved us up and frequently dropped us a good 5-6 meters to be met with sprays. The Captain expertly guided us to close proximity with first a couple of seals, then a few blue whales coming up for air.. He was able to spot and track them with extreme accuracy, as well as, time their surfacing intervals (we came back when they resurfaced). We took a side excursion to play with a couple hundred dolphins. They DID dance and play in a way you would never experience at an aquarium or Sea World. Imagine a couple hundred of them leaping in a row.. row after row, in sync. We then returned to the spot the surfacing whales.. In the wild and open waters.. we were unexpectedly became aware of the amazing and precious life that surrounds us. Seeing the blue whales and it's majestic body coming out of the water.. should make anyone humble and speachless!

Thoroughly enjoyed this event

This was a very exiciting expidition. I enjoyed everything about this trip. The boat ride in itself was awesome and then to see all the dolphins; literally hundreds of them swimming right in front of and before the boat. Then we followed a blue whale which surfaced about every 10 minutes, just as the captain said. He was very informative.I got some great photos and video. I loved it and can't wait to do it again.

Thing to know...

Here are some things I wish I knew before I went on the fishing trip. I wish I would have known to bring needle nose pliers and wire cutters also a knife so I could have taken care of my own re-hooking, detangling and baiting. Also you might want to take into consideration if school’s out, on our boat we had so many kids running around it was really irritating. A lot of people brought food to eat on the boat which if I knew I would have done the same. Make sure you bring a small towel for your hands and don’t forget a jacket. That’s all 

This is the first time for whale watching for my wife and I. I really did not know what to expect since it was out of whale migration season. This was definitely the best part of our vacation. Expecting only 1 or 2 whale sighting, the crew explained how unusual our trip was. We saw 10 or more whales and some very playful dolphins. I have the pictures to prove. A great experience!

Making this excursion by boat made for a different experience. We saw several whales from a distance and were able to approach closely enough to see them blow and dive. Really topnotch adventure.

Luck and Preparation

We were lucky to see blue whales at very close range. The catamaran was easily manueuvered into range; the ocean was exceptionally clear (and apparently tasty, judging by the number of whales feeding in the area). The catamaran was not crowded, so we could see from every angle. The naturalist was helpful, but I did not like the rock music playing onboard throughout the visit.

Just Okay, Not Great

We recently went out for a 1/2, which my family ended up calling the "mackerel" fishing trip, since that's pretty much all we caught. I was a bit disappointed to say the least. The two deck hands were okay, nothing great and the skipper seemed to be more interested in catching his own fish. I realize not every trip is going to be a home run, but I have to wonder about the fish counts they're putting up, as the count on this trip was pretty bad.

We saw whales

The captain did find whales and stayed on them/it. Unfortunately the whales kept diving and staying under for 10 minutes at a time. We did get fairly close to the whale. Which was difficult for the captain as the whale only took up to 5 breaths before diving down again.

We saw about 3 blue whales over and over again. It was great fun. The captain and crew did as much as they could to ensure we all had the opportunity to see the whales.
