Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

wonderful how they describe some of the animals you see - just isn't a boat floating around - they do a really good job. Accomodations are really great.

The 1/2 day trip was well organized & the deck hands were helpfull. Although there were very few fish caught on this trip...the experince was great. It was my sons first time & he really enjoyed it. We look forward to the next trip.

Since Whales are a bit hard to come by, at least that is what we heard, it may be best to play up the dolphins and play down the whales. Perhaps that's what whale watching is, but we simply look for and searched for whales, with no luck. Kids did not care, the dolphins were way cooler anyway. We loved it and will go again, but this time, we will call it "Dolphin Watching"

Had a good time but whale watching was very slow and only got too see one whale at the very end of the tour. Saw no dolphins at all. Was going to ask for a refund or another day the go whale watching but grand daugther was a little sea sick and forgot too ask. Please send me 3 tickets to try it again. Grand daughter promise we will have better luck. Scott Burns

The price was great and the crew was great. We saw three types of whales on our outing. The captain was very enthusiastic and passionate about making everyones trip a good one. Would definetly go again.

The activity was good we all had fun eventhough we didn"t see any whales. The biggest concern my wife has is we were under the impersion that the ship was non-smoking. My wife was sitting on the top deck and the captain was smoking so much that the smoke just kept coming out around the window and blowing into the seats up stairs. This gave my wife a headeck and made the rest of the crusie uncomfortable for many of the other passengers.

The sun, sea and coastline were beautiful, the crew were courteous and informative. We didn't see any whales, but we saw dolphins and had a wonderful time. We understood that the whales don't show up on demand and went with the idea in mind that we would be happy with whatever we saw.

This was a wonderful experience and the crew was great. I would recommend this experience to everybody.

We throroughly enjoyed our trip and we saw a grey whale breaching (in early April) so we were very pleased with that. Personally we would would recommnd the early trip (10am) as there are fewer people on board. There were about 60 when we went and this was comfortable - any more and the boat (the Dana Pride) would have felt a bit crowded. The crew were very pleasant and knowledgeable. On our next visit to Dana Point we will be joining you again!

Getting tickets, license, rod rental, parking, etc. was quick and easy. Crew was friendly and knowledgable. Boat was clean and stocked with a variety of baits. Fellow anglers were friendly and nice - Not the typical rough crowd that is half-in-the-bag by 7:00 am.

Great company! Clean boat, great crew, free four hour parking, and we got lucky and saw 2 CA grey whales together. Lots of dolphins too ! It was relaxing and the crew was GREAT from check in to docking after the cruise. 04/02/2010. Will do this again next trip to CA. Great for kids, our 6 year old daughter can't wait to go back. The access from the freeway to the dock is easy too.

We and the grandkids had a very good time. We seen a big group of Dolphins.

While the website lists how many whales were seen each day, it does not mention that with multiple trips a day some outings come back without seeing any whales. The company does offer you another outing for free in the future, but the trip does feel like a bust when no whales are sighted.

great experience! saw fin whales, dolphins and seals. the water is gorgeous and worth the trip alone. 5 year old on trip got BORED though but because he expected a seaworld type "show" and couldn't see the whales. highly recommended!

it was a great experience to see world's 2nd largest mammal.
