Perfect cruise length
Informative when we spotted ocean life
Good at giving directions as to where to look
Easy to locate where to board ship

If you are planning for a boat ride or dolphin/ sea lion watching, then go ahead. Else, forget about this trip. Keep sailing around the island and no efforts made attempts to search for whales. |

Everyone on board will enjoy this voyage. The crew was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They took us straight to the whales and respectfully followed them for a while assuring that we all got that once in a lifetime picture of the flukes (tail) coming out of the water. It was a wonderful family experience. |

I've only gone fishing 3x in my life.. and they were on lakes and i only caught one fish, so i would consider myself a beginner. I figure based on the reviews that i read that this boat trip would be a great experience for me and maybe i would learn something about fishing. I went on the 1/2 day trip... 6:30am-11:30am ..
I went with my sister.. being the only females on the boat... and probrably also being the only people under the age of 30..and maybe also the only BEGINNERS on the boat. i had a great time!! i caught 7 fishes... i learn what each fished were called.. and i even caught 2 poisonous fishes!! which the guys on the boat helped me out with. both me and my sister came home with 3 good size Sand Bass. The boat provides the bait for you (squid and sardines), and the guys help u with unhooking the fishes from your pole if u need help. You can bring your own food, but there is food on the boat as well; there is a volunteer jackpot for who catches the biggest fish too.
Very cold, make sure you wear lots of LAYERS of clothes.. i had 7 layers on.. still very cold!! Especially make sure your ears, neck, and hands are covered... VERY COLD!! :-) People on the boat were very friendly and helpful. I would definately do it again! |

The guys on the boat were great, and very informative. We saw whales at a distance, and dolphins up close. It was a beautiful day, and was enjoyed by all! |

Wish the trip was longer than 2 hours! Had a great time and saw 2 whales. Would love to go on a longer trip the next time and hope to see dolphins as well. |

A total disappointment

This was supposed to be the highlight of my California vacation. I had convinced the other members of my party that this was a "must do" and that we would see the things we'd viewed on the Nature channel with our very own eyes. I read so many positive reviews from people who had posted them just the week before, and was sure that we'd have a similar experience. I know that nature can be unpredictable, but all of the posts from the previous week insisted that we'd see hundreds of dolphins and I had no reason to think that we wouldn't have the same experience. The few negative posts I read were related to fishing, so I was sure we'd see plenty of dolphins and if we were lucky, a whale or two. We saw NOTHING!!!! We sailed for two hours and saw absolutely nothing! I was so totally disappointed. Their "no refund" policy guarantees that if you don't see dolphins or whales, you can sale again for free. I live in Maryland and probably won't be making this trip again, so it is little consolation and the guarantee is worthless. If you still choose to go, be aware that they cannot guarantee any sightings. Thankfully it didn't cost a lot. I'm just glad that we didn't purchase the four hour cruise. |

A very nice clean boat, with friendly people working.
Best part they tried and succeeded to find whales and we were able to get close to 2 blue whales!

We hit the perfect day...weather was 75 on the water in January...boat not too crowed...saw Whales, 1000 dolphins and birds chasing the boat...We live in Dana Point and it was still a very special, unique experience...give it a try...
