Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We saw whales in the first 15 minutes after leaving the dock.

we didn't see any whales or dolphins and therefore got two free tickets for a future ride with no expiration date. That was worth it

My husband and I and our group of friends had a great time! We saw 5 whales and a 300 hundred pod of dolphins! What more could you ask for! The catamaran was comfortable, in great shape and the staff was awesome! Will definitly recomend this to all our friends! Who knew this was all in our back yard! Thanks for the great adventure! Tina

A pesar de que no observamos ballenas, el viaje valio la pena. Observamos muchos delfines, algunos leones marinos y focas. Sin embargo hay que decir que tienen mucho por mejorar en el servicio, ya que no parecia que hicieran esfuerzos por ubicar ballenas. Tal parecia que esperaban que alguna se cruzara en su camino, mas que buscarlas.

If you are planning for a boat ride or dolphin/ sea lion watching, then go ahead. Else, forget about this trip. Keep sailing around the island and no efforts made attempts to search for whales.

There could be a number of reason why it was like this, (it was just the time of year, last week of March, or that a strom had made the waters cold, we had only half a day, ect.) but the deepest we ever fished in was 66 ft of water. Nothing substantialy large was caught eithe and I think it would be safe to say that most of the people didn't catch anything. The last spot we fished was in 18 ft of water. We road a half an hour down the coast (never more than 900 yds from shore) to our fishing spots. I remember a time when my dad went out deep sea fishing south of Portland where they were fishing in 900 ft of water and bringing in monster fish every cast . Maybe it was ingnorance on my part, but that was what I was hopeing for, not 18 ft of water with little rockfish. Perhaps it would have been better fishing on a longer trip. I don't konw.

The boat was comfortable. The crew was excellent. But, not a whale in site and only two dolphins. Nice boat ride though.

It was fantastic. We actually saw a whale playing with dolphins. The whale would roll completely over, flapping it's flippers and the dolphins were jumping over the whale and actually jumping on the belly of the whale. The whale also fluked 4 times.

This was an amazing experience! The crew did an awesome job of pointing out different things for us to see and locating whales. The whales were unfortunately inactive, but the crew put our boat in the middle of a huge pod of dolphins. Amazing! It was inexpensive and I will definitely do it again the next time (and every time) I am there!

The captain did a great job in making sure we saw the whales and gave us interesting history and stories in between sightings.

We left at eight in the morning and were off in the search of a whale. just when i thought we were ready to head back, we got a report of a whale in the area nearby... sure enough we saw one.. and it BREACHED fully out of the water!!!!!!!! landing with a big splash... and it blew out of its blow hole a few times and did a few tale flips for us... it was happy to see us.. =) great, fun time if you get the chance to go.

Nice boat ride on a nice day. No whales. Boat company gives you a complimentary ticket if no whales are seen. This ticket has no expiration date on it! Good marketing!

I recommend this trip to any one . 2 hours of stress free. Friendly crew.

The crew members presented a very informative dialogue on whale history. The captain always had a good view of the whales as the boat was always pointed toward whale location. Guests gravitated to side where whales were sighted. It was not always possible for all guests to have a look at the whales. If the boat had been strategically positioned, everyone could have had a better view.

We weren't lucky enough to see a whale, but received a free pass to try again! Mother nature doesn't always cooperate. Everything was well run, on time & the crew was curtious. It was a nice way to see the coast from a different perspective & spend time on the water.
