Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

Dana Wharf was very professional and courteous throughout the trip. The boat was clean, they serve food and drinks on the boat which was great for the 8am trip. We unfortunately did not see any whales or dolphins, but they made sure to give each passenger a coupon that is good forever, for any time of day (upon making reservations). I look forward to the next trip out and hope we will see whales when we do.

The spots where we were was hardly any fish to catch. My kid was very sad because he didn't catch anything.

We arrived in Dana Point early and really enjoyed the area. We waited in anticipation for the boat to dock and were excited when it came around the corner. This was the first time any of us had been in a boat in the ocean and we were thrilled. The boat was clean, the staff was wonderful, and the experience was amazing. We didn't get to see a whole lot of whales but just being out on the water was amazing. During our trip we encountered a small amount of bottle-nose dolphins and a few Fin whales. It was really cool. The captain wasn't satisfied with the amount of time we had with actual animal experience and offered us all $10 off our next trip. Next time we are in town we will definitely take him up on this offer. Taking the evening trip was memorable as we were able to watch the sun set behind Catalina island. This experience will be one that our whole family remembers forever.

It was good to be away from the city and see some whales/dolphins. It was relaxing and enjoying. It's definitely something one should do once a while! It would be perfect if the cruise could provide water and some snacks. Overall, it's recommended.

My wife always wanted to go Whale Watching. She had a great time. We will be back next year!!!

We chose the catamaran tour because of the limit of 50 people. We did not want to be shoved like sardines into a tour boat. The catamaran was spacious and provided great viewing access for everyone on board. I have used this tour company before and we have ALWAYS seen whales! (maybe just our luck!) One thing that is not mentioned that I wish we had known about was the FREE BREAKFAST that was provided with the FREE LECTURE at 10am. It was very informative and humorous as well. Its well worth the additional money! The reservations were easy to make online and even if you are in a hotel and cant print the e-ticket out, they make it EASY by providing a number you can write down and take with you! The reservations department was well informed and I would certainly do business here again!

We found no whales

My wife and I had a great time and were thankful for the great price as well! Will do it again - highly recommend the early morning time.

We had a lot of fun. We saw lots of dolphins and sea lions and had a great time cruising out on the ocean. The crew was friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating inside and out and the galley had good food. I had a breakfast burreto which was really good. Highly recommended.

did not see any whales

the boat was too slow and upon arrival we had only but 15 minutes to wait for the whales to surface. another boat, same category, passed us on the way out and loitered around the whales much longer than we did. frankly not worth the price.

saw some whales

Fun way to see wildlife in its natural habitat, but can get tedious trying to locate the animals.

Our captain, Jack, I believe, and his knowledgeable crew did a great job of tracking down some whales for us to see, while always respecting the animal's space and route. I'd surely do the trip again and recommend it to others wanting to see a pretty close peek at nature in our backyard.

This is one of the best values I've ever had! The two hour boat trip is worth the price even without the Seal lions, whales and dolfphins... beautiful views of the coast. The crew is really what made the trip - they are so friendly, enthusiastic and knowlegeable. Tip... we took the last boat of the day and it was much less busy than the noon sailing.
