Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

9-21-08: Beautiful day for a fishing trip! Hadn't been out on the ocean all year and was very pleased with this trip. Crew was friendly and helpful, the bite was ok. I remembered the fish counts don't tell you how much you actually catch and release, so the bite was better than fish counts indicated. Caught a wide variety of fish and didn't do any bottom fishing, so I was pleased about that. Just found out about Dana Kids, so next time, will bringing the young 'uns. Would highly recommend Dana Wharf to anyone considering it.

The trip was cancelled after spending only 30 min on the water. They would not give us our money back. They only gave us a voucher. I can't go back because I am leaving the state. I wasted $30!

My friends and I do a half day trip once a year. We always have a very memorable time and would reccomend it to anyone!

The stuff working on the boat gave us a great help. But the fishing rod we rented from the shop did not work very well, so we didnt have any nice catch, I was wondering if I can get the refoun for the rental fee. Otherwise I have to bring my fishing rod .

A friend and I decided to go out on a 1/2 day boat. Weather was great, the fish were biting quite well. All in all, we enjoyed it a lot and plan to go again on a regular basis. The crew was very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

It was fantastic!! The boat ride was wonderful as was the crew. We were able to see 2 different types of dolphins and sea lions. Even though we didn't see any whales it didn't matter. The dolphins put on a great show!! The whole trip was relaxing and exciting. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone and can't wait to go again.

Everything was great. Dana point is very beautiful area to fish. Also, the deck workers were awesome. Not once did I have to pull a hook from a fishes mouth, and they were very helpful with line tangles. And being a beginner, there were alot of tangles. Thanks for making this day special and my dad I will be returning soon.

This tour was great! The tour guide was patient, informative, and fun and he definitely knew where to look! I would highly recommend this activity to anyone!

We all had a wonderful time . Everyone was really friendly and answered all our questions. The boat was super clean . I would recommend this trip to anyone.

The boat is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone to see. We loved the mega pod of common dolphins, an unbelievable sight.

We had a great time. I would love to go again.

Dear Dana Wharf Sportfishing, I missed that the 12am i thought is was booking was actually 12pm. So I showed up at midnight and nobody was there. It was totally my mistake but I think it would be appropriate for Dana Wharf Sportfishing to give a small discount on another trip when it is missed by a passenger. I know there are costs for fuel and labor that must be accounted for but there is also a profit on services not rendered. This would allow Dana Wharf Sportfishing to offer a small discount to encourage patrons like me to go on another trip and not just leave disappointed after having to incur the expense of the trip (even though it was my fault) its just good business to have happy customers. I drove all the way from Moreno Valley before I realized the mistake. It would be great if you could send an email a couple hours before departure so this would not happen. Thank You. Rodger Smelcer

I recommend this trip for a good day of non serious fishing persons and children. Nice trip to take you kids out on.

I have been fishing out of Dana Point before; it was my friends (co-worker) first time fishing any where!! The boat was a bit crowded, but there is no way to control that, it turned out to be fine!!! The Captain and Crew were very helpful and took care of everyone on board, that's very important!! The day was really nice, however we didn't catch hardly a thing, I only caught a few fish and all were too small and had to be tossed back into the ocean. The jack pot winner was a very small fish!! I believe there were 55 people on board and all put their $5.00 in the jack pot, so the guy received a huge amount for a very small fish, nice going who ever that was!! Fishing for me is just Fun!! I have been fishing out of other docks and some places the Captain and crew have not been very friendly I do love being out at sea and just the whole idea of fishing!! I believe that if the Captain and Crew don't project that feeling of fun and friendliness it just isn't worth it at all. However on this day it was the contrary and the Captain and Crew made it fun so not catching any fish made it ok - Thank You So Very Much!!! I've been fishing other times when I have caught nothing so it was fine for me, I just felt bad for my friend!! However, she said she had a Great time, only because of the Captain and Crew and would go again (Me Too) even though she didn't catch anything!! After all that's why they call it fishing instead of catching!!!!
