Beautiful day, beautiful boat, beautiful animals!

Dana Pride is a clean and tidy boat, well taken care of. The unobstructed view from the upper deck, outfitted with tables and benches, was a plus as we did not feel crowded. The pace was easy going and allowed for several nice sequences of photos. Would definitely go again with Dana Wharf on the Dana Pride.

This was the best whale watching excursion we have ever taken. We saw pods of killer whales, along with grey whales and dolphins, all for the price of $18.00 a person.

Super Experience!

Our captain did a great job of navigating so that we could view the sea mammals. We saw one grey whale, some dolphins, seals, and numerous orcas, which he said were a rare sight in southern California waters. All in all, it was the best whale cruise we have ever experienced The orcas were a bonus. We would have had an excellent experience if we had not seen them. I would highly recommend them to anyone. The Tuesday 1/2 price was great too.

The crew was fantastic, informative, professional, experienced, zealous of what they do. They managed the trip exceptionally. We were fortunate to track a whale for an hour, see sea lions, blue shark and best of all, the Dana Point sighting of the Orcas. The crew did a great job in making this a better experience than I ever imagined.

My two friends from Texas and I had the privilege and honor to be on the Dana Wharf whale watching trip that got to experience the pod of Orcas off the coast of Dana Point on January 3, 2012. It is definitely an event that goes in all of our Top Ten Most Exciting Events of our lives. The Captain and staff were outstanding. I wish future watchers the luck that we had to be part of a rare event such as this.

My parents were visiting my house, and I took them to the whale watching trip. Luckily, we could see killer whales, a whale, sea lions, a blue shark, and dolphins. Especially, killer whales are really rare, so we are really lucky.

Lucky trip
1/2 Priced Whale Watch (past event)
Tue, Jan 3, 12   12:00 PM Shirley2489 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The success of our trip was primarily due to the fact that the weather was perfect and pod of orcas showed up. Since orca sightings are rare this far south, even the captain was excited. Still, I would recommend this trip as long as one realizes not every trip gets to see whales.

My trip was a once in a lifetime

I was blessed enough to observe one gray whale on my trip, on 1/3/12 After we viewed the gray fro a while, we went to see what else we might find, and I was blessed, fortunate enough to be on the Dana Pride noon ride, and we found the pod of 10 orcas. This was my first trip since a kid on a field trip in 3rd grade. Only downside, was the dude "narrating" the trip never stopped. So for essentially 2 hours, some dude on a loud PA system, was just yackin, and yackin, and..... it was really a downer. Otherwise would have been a 5-star trip.

Great experience all around

We left on time, the crew was friendly and informative. Slow fishing in the winter but we moved around a bit to try new locations as needed (we hit 4). We are inexpereinced fisherpeople and the crew was good about helping when lines got caught and even helped set up the poles we borrowed.

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable boat, very knowledgable audio accompanying sightings, beautiful view of the coastline. Did not see whales, but two groups of dolphins and one group of sea lions. Even though it was 75 degrees out, the wind out on the ocean is biting - dress accordingly. Overall, recommended as a fun and unique outing for couples and families alike.

Nice

It's a nice thing to do with the family. Had lots of bites, and caught two keepers. It is always something to do once in a while. Fishing is fun, and the boat ride is nice too. Five hours is just enough time to catch a fish or two. The nine hour trip sounds like a nice choice for next time. It doesn't matter if you catch anything or not, the view is just astonishing.

Great way to spend a couple hours!

We have been out with these guys before. We did the 2 hour whale watch. The captain was knowledgable and personable. The boat was clean. We didn't see any whales but we saw a ton of dolphins and some sea lions. It's a bummer not to see a whale but it's still a really beautiful way to spend a couple hours out at sea. We will keep taking our out of town visitors out and maybe one day we will see a whale!

Winter Solstice trip on Catamaran was spectacular
Thu, Dec 22, 11   2:00 PM mzbadger Female 70+ Local Group of Friends
I go out with a group of 25 to 40 people every few months . on both the Catamaran and regular boat. Every trip is a little different like the moods of the sea. We almost always have lots of dolphins come to play, sometimes small pods and sometimes the ocean bubbles with 1000's of dolphins leaping and playing. The common dolphins always want to hang out with the boat. on the Solstice we saw two whales blow like Old Faithful and surface like islands rising out of the sea. Then we got "tailed". A bunch of porpoises showed up like they came for a play date. The captains are all terrific, keeping you well informed and going the extra mile to make sure you have the best experience possible. It's a great way to spend a few hours on the sea with our ocean dwelling friends and seeing our beautiful coastline.
