Don't forget to take the warm clothes because the ocean breezes are chilling. Overall experience was nice.

Beautiful Day on Whale Watching Excursion
Sat, Feb 14, 09   12:00 PM ricklyn Female 50-59 Local Family Without Children
This was a Valentine's Day excursion my husband and I decided we wanted to take. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the boat and the guarantee of seeing whales (or at least dolphins) or they will give you "whale tickets" for another trip. Yes, we ended up getting the whale tickets but that was out of the generosity of the operators of the trip because we actually did see a small pod of white sided dolphins jumping and playing with a sea lion. It was really neat! There were about 100 people on our 2 hour trip but the boat was easily large enough to accomodate 200 people so there were no feelings of overcrowding. After we returned to the dock, we decided to have a late lunch at The Jolly Roger which was "a few steps" away. One other note...we decided my 86 year old, wheel chair boun father-in-law could easily come with us on our return adventure. The boat was very handicap accessible.

Personally not terribly exciting. Disappointing

There is very little seating for those that need it. be prepared to standOur 74 old mother with her freshly healed broken foot looked forward to this adventure.. at this point probably a once in a lifetime thing for her...We went after a few days of rain and wind,The swells were very high, and nowhere for her to sit on the main deck , as there are no seats there( all the seats were taken on the upper deck) sitting down below caused motion sickness within minutes so she had to stand and hold her ground and balance with her feet. she was very sore afterward. the last 15 min as we were heading in we saw 2 whales...quite a ways away. that was it. you had to look hard. they surfaced twice and were gone. the next day we went fishing and we saw dolphins swimming with our boat and sea lions, but mom wasn't with for that trip. personally disappointed on behalf of my mom.I'm glad we took advantage of the 1/2 price Tuesday The crew were looking.. but if they are not to be seen not much they can do about it.They seemed knowledgable and were very pleasant. Everything was very easy. from ordering tickets, directions and getting tickets at the counter in the shop.Parking was free and there was plenty of it

Disappointing that we only saw a couple of whales at the very end of the cruise, no dolphin.

Have been participating in Dana Wharf whale watches for 20+ years and always take visitors. Not too lucky seeing whales and/or dolphins/porpoises but always a nice 2 hours on the water. Commentary is always good and helpful to "first timers".

Worth the trip

I've been on other whale watching cruises and saw only dolphins and sea lions. This cruise was great as two whales were sighted and surfaced several times. I would recommend anyone wishing to take pictures to have a high speed camera as you will have only seconds to point and shoot. The other option is to have a camcorder where you can catch the whale as it surfaces and clip photos from there. An overall GREAT trip!

Delightful day out

We appreciated the Tuesday half-price tickets, the on-time departure and return, the enthusiastic welcome, the many dolphins and the lone whale we saw. It was a beautiful sunny day and it was a stable boat with a happy crowd. We didn't eat on board, but others seemed to like their food. Would recommend this to all ages.

Although we didn't see any whales on this trip, we did see several pods of dolphins. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. We arrived early and were able to switch to the first ship out without any problems. The service people were friendly and very helpful.

The whale watching was a great experience, the Dolphins were an additional bonus and were out of this world to watch. Thanks to the crew, they were very helpful.

We did not see any whales, but did see dolphins and sea lions. The day was beautiful and the trip was a fun two hours in spite of the lack of whales.

Thrilling!

Although we didn't see any whales, the dolphins made up for it. There were hundreds of them. What a great experience. The marine biologist provided indept information on the various types whales and dolphins, the sea lions and the birds. The rest of the crew was very professional, friendly and helpful. We are looking forward to another tour with you and will recommend you to our friends. Thanks for a grand time! Ute PS. It might not be a bad idea to remind your prospective clients of the possibility of sea sickness.

The crew was very friendly. The boat was large and clean with plenty of places to sit and view the water. I would have hoped for a little more information on the marine life via the man on the PA but the relative quiet was nice too. If the boat were smaller, I think it would have been possible to get a little closer to the whales and not disturb them. It was a nice couple hours on the water and the bloody mary was great.

We tracked one whale and the crew did a great job at explaining the tendencies of the whale and got us in good position to see it.
