Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We love the whale watching experience and try to book a sea venture out at least once a month during the whale watching season. This last trip I was lucky enough to get a wonderful whale-tail shot and numerous shots of dancing dolphins. It was magnificient!

It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely do it again. We were able to see over 3000 dolphins in a pod and a Finchback whale. That was the highlight of my trip because I never saw a whale in the wild before! We went during the 1/2 price days on Tuesday at 12pm.

We had such a great time! The whole crew was friendly, knowledgeable and enjoyable. We had a pod of dolphins.......around 5,000 of them, following our boat, they were incredibly playful surfing on the wake from our boat, and then we saw a 70-80 ft. whale. We highly recommend this Whale Cruise!

This was the highlight of my trip! Dana Wharf is located in a very quiant town and was clean and very well kept. From the moment we bought our tickets, the staff was friendly and very helpful. We bought our tickets early, so we enjoyed a cafe within walking distance before boarding the boat. Once we boarded, we left promptly, and all of the crew members were very enthusiastic and polite. The guide was very knowledgable on the different animals and migratory patterns, etc. We did not see any whales, BUT we did see somewhere between 2000-3000 dolphins! It was incredible! We rode with their pod for nearly an hour as they played with the waves off of our boat. It was absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. It would be great for families or a group of friends, or even a date! Just remember to bring a light sweater and sunblock!

The day was beautiful and the boat ride was nice -- we were supposed to be whale watching, but really it ended up being a 2 hour harbor cruise with no marine life and a nice time for my friend and I to chat and catch up for 2 hours. There really weren't any announcements or education about whales or anything like that, but I didn't expect a whole lot for the price, so I guess I got what I was expecting. They did give us a coupon to ride again for free since we didn't see anything, which was nice.

It was a beautiful day for a boatride. Alas, we only saw a bit of a whale from a long distance away. It was apparent that your crew was trying very hard to find a whale for us. I appreciate your policy of a "whale check" when we aren't able to find any whales. We were with some people from Ohio who had never been on a boat so we had a lovely time and the whales would have been an exciting bonus.

Our experience overall was excellent, buying and printing tickets online was painless.....One arrived check in only took a couple of minutes The event itself was amazing, we loved every second of it.....It just so happen to be my boyfriends birthday, he was very impressed with the experience. The best example I have is, after our day was over my boyfriend who isn't amazed by the small things as myself, said that it was a once in life time experience and was very thankful for the birthday surprise. four of us found it a delightful day to cruise and look for whales. We only found a pod of dolphin numbering over 1000, and the captain made sure we got to see them all. Crew was great, opening the galley for a late lunch. Nice trip even without a whale sighting. We'll do this again.

we didnt see any whales - such is nature - but, there were hundreds & hundreds of dolphins that was of course exciting to see!

The boat was uncrowded as it was the last cruise of the day. The captain headed out and soon spotted a huge number of dolphins. He took us right into the pod. At least a hundred of these animals were racing with our boat and jumping up out of the water. We never saw a whale, but seeing these dolphins was an experience of a lifetime.

it was my understanding that this is the time of whale observing. with modern means of sharing information, i feel the company was pretty sure we wouldn't see any whales, but they were happy to take our money and give us a two hour boat trip. i was most disappointed and would not recommend the boat ride. we saw more sea life activity from the balcony of our hotel than we did from the boat.

nice boat, comfortable and clean. they guarantee sightings of either whales or dolphins, we found the dolphins first and after that I didn't get a feeling they were looking very hard for whales--they headed back toward our embarkation point and just sort of skimmed along the shore. I've been on other whale watching tours where they moved around to several sites to find whales.

I guess it doesn't happen that often, in fact, the boat before us (2pm sailing) saw a humpback, but unfortunately we didn't see anything-not even dolphins, which we were told are always around. Instead we had a nice cruise. The ship is clean and the crew is efficient. They are very prompt leaving and returning. Upon returning we did receive a coupon for a free cruise-which does not expire-so that was a plus. Cost was affordable and for 2 hours it really doesn't cut into your vacation time that much.

The boat was well maintained and the voyage pleasant. Unfortunately, we sighted no whales. However, we were very pleasantly surprised when everyone on the boat was given a Whale Check for free passage on another day.

After two weeks of stormy, cold weather, and very rough seas the skies were clear, temperatures were in the low 70s and the Pacific was like glass! After much anticipation, we departed the harbor in search of sea life and we were not disappointed! A lone seal was in the harbor, pelicans were on the jetty and not long after leaving port, we spotted the first of several gray whales. We followed the whales up the coastline until it was time to turn back. Several Pacific Bottlenosed Dolphis were sited as was lone sea lion sunning himself on a bouy. We had a FABULOUS time and will go out again if we're ever in California!
