The Battle with the Pelicans
Fri, Aug 5, 11   12:00 PM JoeGrayston Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
Good fun with my son. I didn't expect to have so much trouble with the birds staged next to the boat ready to take your bait, along with your hook as soon as you try to put it in the water. The deck hands were good at pulling the birds, mostly pelicans, up and removing the hook. The crew was helpful and the beer cold.

Nice fishing day!
Thu, Aug 4, 11   10:00 AM pap1673 Male 40-49 Local Other
The crew was very helpful to my 14 year old daughter and I. The fish werent going crazy due to water temps but everyone on the boat caught some so the day wasnt a zero. We will go back later in the season when the water is warmer.

Great summer deal for the Twilight trip!
Wed, Aug 3, 11   5:30 PM vagabond52 Male 30-39 Local Other
Everything was as advertised and very easy to get our tickets and board the boat. Even though the fishing was poor, they told us before hand and what was catching the most fish under the current conditions. Following there advice we still caught one fish and had a great time regardless. We plan on definitely going back before the $25 twilight special is over!

Better value than the movies
Wed, Aug 3, 11   5:30 PM kemmerm Male 50-59 Local Family With Children
So for 5 hours you can be out on the water, eating a burger and having a good time. maybe even catch some fish for dinner. You can even go to the movies for that kind of price.

We saw whales
Wed, Aug 3, 11   5:00 PM spenser1 Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
The captain did find whales and stayed on them/it. Unfortunately the whales kept diving and staying under for 10 minutes at a time. We did get fairly close to the whale. Which was difficult for the captain as the whale only took up to 5 breaths before diving down again.

Fish not biting but a nice morning on the water
Wed, Aug 3, 11   6:30 AM lennoxes Male 50-59 Local Family With Children
The ocean dropped 10-degrees in a week, so the fish weren't biting, but we had a nice day. One crew member, who seemed to be new, was not at all customer oriented. The captain took him aside at the start of the trip, but to no effect... Otherwise a nice time. My 12-year old son can't wait to go again!

Admiral! There be whales here!

We saw about 3 blue whales over and over again. It was great fun. The captain and crew did as much as they could to ensure we all had the opportunity to see the whales.

Experience varies by day
Tue, Aug 2, 11   5:00 PM myav13 Male 40-49 Local Couple on a Date
Since the whales come and go as they please, you may see many, few, or no whales at all. We were lucky enough to see a handful of blue whales, and that was good enough for us, but of course we wish we could have seen more, including dolphins which others on the boat said they had seen before. You're out on the water for around two hours, and the vast majority of that time is spent waiting, with brief periods of seeing whales, but it is pretty exciting during that time.

Very fun trip!

I took my two boys, who are 10 and 3, and my parents on the whale watching trip. The crew was very knowledgeable and nice. We should have been on the boat for 2 hours but it turned into 2 and a half hours because we kept seeing more whales! The captain didn't want us to miss one! The boat was clean and nice. There wasn't a lot of seating of course but if you feel you need to sit for the entire ride I would suggest getting in line about a half hour before your boat is to leave.

We took the family, 3 adult children and our 6 year-old grandson, on the Whale Watching trip out of Dana Point and all of us were thrilled with the experience. The crew was great and, best of all, we saw 3 whales and lots of dolphins. One of the highlights of our vacation!!

I've lived in the Inland Empire all of my life and I've never been Whale Watching. I took my grown daughter and her three sons (my grandsons), ages 3 1/2 months to 14 years. We all had a blast. We all learned a lot about the Whales from the Captain and his helper. The boys didn't know if they would like it or not, they didn't, they loved it. The day we went out was a bit windy and the boat was rocking some. The baby has never felt his stomach feel that way and was laughing so much I had to take a video of it. The Captain went out of his way to find Whales, Dolphins and Sea Lions for all of us. He wanted to make sure we had a memorial time and we did. Everyone from check in to leaving was wonderful. I wasn't sure how the staff would react to an infant and a stroller, but they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Thank You All. B.Grandia

More smoke than bites.
Sun, Jul 31, 11   5:30 PM michaelseitz Male 60-69 Local Family With Children
I generally do not get seasick, but a constant gail of cigarette and cigar smoke took care of that. With a crowd of people in pretty tight quarters, there should be no smoking allowed. I think it will be a long time before I go out again.
