Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We had a wonderful time! The crew was very helpful and gave us all the facts on the wildlife we saw during our Catamaran ride. We didn't see any whales but we did see hundreds of dolphins as they swam along side the boat for quite some time. It was an incredible experience that we will definitely plan to do again the next time we visit Dana Point. I highly recommend this adventure and taking advantage of 1/2 price Tuesday's made it affordable for us to do something out of the ordinary during our stay at the beach.

What a great way to get on the water, enjoy the SoCal sun, and experience nature! The staff are friendly and helpful. The boat is just big enough and not crowded. From the time you leave the dock it is a wonderful and relaxing experience. You never lose sight of land even though you go out about a mile. The contrast of open sea ahead and mountains to the rear makes you realize how amazing California is. As your eyes scan the horizon for the tell-tale "puff" of a whale you note the deep greens and blue of the water. Suddenly there dolphins breaching just ahead! Take some videos with your phone so you can re-live the motion as well as the action. 2 hours is just enough..and if you don't find whales the company gives half off coupons for the next trip you take, and once you've gone out there will definitely be a next trip! Grab some food at Turk's either before or after your trip. Great bar with food place, lots of atmosphere that will remind you of days past, and delicious food!

The captain went out of the standard 7 mile zone to show us the only Blue whale in the area and it was worth it! I have been on whale watching boats on the east coast and Hawaii and this trip was by far the best. I also enjoyed the dolphins cavorting around the boat. I have recommended this trip to others and plan to go another trip when the whales are "in town".

The trip was fantastic. Although we didn't get to see any whales we were able to seals and several dolphins. It was a lot of fun and a great experience.

The captain was very knowledgeable and passed on to us a lot of information about the sealife. It was a smooth ride and was fun when he speeded up to get further out to sea. (8 miles) Weather was beautiful. We only saw dolphins and some sun fish but enjoyed it anyway. It was good customer service to give us 1/2 price passes for the next time we want to go. I greatly recommend this outing.

This was our first whale watching adventure and we had high hopes to see some blue whales, but unfortunately none were sighted on this trip. It did appear that the staff made every effort to locate them, but no luck. Still, the day was sunny and the staff was friendly. At the end of the trip, our tickets were returned to us so that we could come back at no additional cost and try another whale watching adventure. We look forward to returning. Pleasant way to spend a couple of hours on the ocean.

Three of us did this same activity a couple years ago & it was wonderful. There were so many pelicans etc this time that it wasn't nearly as much fun. We probably won't go again because of this.

Besides the great experience on the catamaran and seeing these amazing, beautiful whales I learned a lot too. I cannot recommend this enough, I have shared my pictures and experience with everyone. Am I going again, absolutely!!!!

Didn't even get one bite. Boat and crew are for the most part ok. But judging by what was caught by all of the fishers on the boat this area is over-fished. Have been out about 6 times over last 15 years and the most I caught was 4 fish on one outing.

The trip is highly reccomended and the captain's knowledge was extrordinary on the ecosystem and the animal life.

The captain did a good job of finding the blue whales and bottle nosed dolphins on our trip. We got close enough to get pictures. Amazing creatures!

Great boat, very clean and comfortable. Crew was great very knowledgable. We will go again!

It was loads of great fun. Learned a lot about marine wildlife too. Very informative guide. Worth the ticket price. We plan to do it again. Seeing the dolphins, and the Blue whale out at sea was simply breath taking, and the catamaran ride out on the point of the bow was an adrenaline rush for me!

this is the third time we have used this organization and the third time it has been a waste of money and time. They stay close enough to shore I could swim and couldn't find a fish if it jumped in the boat. We will never use this company again.
