Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

Very nice fishing trip!Especially for my boys who enjoyed it a lot!Sorry for them that they did not catch any fish.Maybe next time!

Dana Wharf does an excellent job of getting the kids involved on these 12-day trips, especially the 12:45 Sunday trips. If you want more room and less kids, try the morning or twilight trips, or the 3/4 day trips. Tip: Use a 3 to 4 oz. torpedo weight and dropper-loop setup on these trips and you won't get tangled up as much...

The weather was windy and fishing was tough; however, the crew made it a very enjoyable trip! I am looking forward to going out to Dana Point Wharf Sport fishing many more times!!!

Everything was great but we didn't catch any fish. As a result we will not be returning there.

Always have fun on these charters. I wish their prices were more in the 25-35 dollar range. I would go more often.

The fees from Zerve to actually get your tickets I find a little ridiculous! But Danas Warf is awesome!!! Great time every time ive been.

Here we have a boat and a crew to which they do not hold anything back. My trip was Sunday May 15, 2011 and we had some beautiful sunny Southern Califonia weather just up until the weekend of my trip. I have an understanding of fish, and fishing so I was aware the sudden change would cause the fish to calm down and not be the wide open bite the fish counts were previously indicating. Before we arrived to our first fishing hole there was a demonstration for the boat, kind of like a fishing 101 for those were were not familiar with what to do. I see this as a great addition to the trip and commend the crew for even putting on the display. The fish were simply not in a mood to bite, but I cannot blame Captain, or crew for any of this as they were all over the place making sure everyones line was in the water at a spot that would normally provide. So even though our fish did not cooperate the crew did what was needed to keep spirits up, and the morale high even for the youngsters who more than likely though they would be catching fish the whole time. For all of the above mentioned I would recommend this boat/trip to anyone looking to get out on the water and have a good time doing it, no matter what the circumstance.

Tons of fun. The captain and crew were really cool to talk to. The whales were HUGE, and basically everything about the whole event was great. Perfect place to take a date or to just go with family for something new and enjoyable

My son and I go out a lot on the 1/2 day boats. Dana Wharf sent out a email $20 off coupon for twilight fishing for Friday night. Since the fish count was up the night before, I thought it would be a good night to go out with my son. I was bummed when I saw that it was on the Reel Fun. They have no galley for guests to escape the weather or cold or to take a break. It was a very slow night. Hardly any hits at all and then it got cold and windy. I caught one short Calico and no other bites the whole night. There were 2 or 3 keepers the whole night. Just the wrong night to go. It can only get better from here. However, I'll stick to day boats if twilight is on the Reel Fun.

I took my family on this whale watching cruise not really knowing what to expect. The crew was very nice and accommodating. The boat was clean and nice. The captain and crew knew exactly where to go to find dolphins and boy did we see dolphins. The boat went right through a school of over a thousand dolphins. They were amazing to watch and unexpectedly quiet. While we were out we spotted a Fin Whale and later followed a California Grey Whale and her baby. My kids thought it was awesome. I was amazed. I would defiantly do this again!

The crew is knowledgable and they care about the ocean. Safe, fun, clean boat. Good time. WELL worth the price.

Took our 4 kids on the Tuesday 1/2 price sailing. What a great time! Saw an enormous pod of dolphins, sea lions, & a gray whale with her calf! The captain was very knowledgeable and was able to capture & keep my kids attention! I would recommend wearing layers of clothing, it gets chilly on the water! Also, go as early in the day as possible. Less crowded! All In all, a magical time was had by all of us!
