Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

My husband and I had our 2 nephews in town from Chicago (ages 14 & 17); since it was too cold for the beach, yet we wanted to get them near the ocean, we thought this would be a great way - affordable and on the water. We didn't know what to expect as far as the wildlife, but we hit the jackpot - whale, pod of 100's of dolphins, sea lions and then a mother whale w/calf - the experience was amazing and the pictures incredible - they look like something you'd see on TV. On the flip side, my sister was in with her family (3 boys, ages 8-11) a month ago, and they did this. Unfortunately, they didn't see any marine life. However, they did get 2 hours out on the ocean and got their money back (just as it was promised ). While the experiences were on the both ends of the spectrum in regards to the marine life seen, the experiences were both great. I have already recommended it to some friends @ work and I will be doing this again!

We recently brought friends visiting from Pittsburgh on a whale watching trip. The adults and kids enjoyed it completely. We were lucky enough to follow a mother whale with her baby for a long time, and to top it off, they were joined by several bottle nose dolphin! I could not have been happier to share the experience with my good friends! A once in a lifetime experience for many!

Great time on the ocean. We knew it was late in the season to spot whales, but we decided to give it a try. We did not see any whales, but did see a few sea lions and a huge pod of common dolphins...even babies. The crew was very friendly and tried their hardest to find us something to see. It was a fun time for my three boys (9, 6 and 1 1/2) as well. We will go back again.

I can't begin to express in words how much we enjoyed this excursion. The dolphins swam with the boat for quite a while, right directly next to us! We got such beautiful pictures. The water was so clear, we could watch them under water and they jumped and played as if putting on a show. It was Awesome! We saw mamas with new babies. When we got far enough offshore our Captain began searching for whales. It didn't take long. He spotted a Fin Whale and explained that they are the second largest Whale in the world. We think there were actually two but it was hard to tell cause they stay under water longer than other species of whale. All n all, it was the experience of a lifetime. If you get the opportunity to take this trip, by all means DO IT!! It was well worth it. I wish I could post my pictures for you to see. Guess you're just gonna have to go see for yourself :)

It was a great way to spend a day off with the kids. Even though the fin whale was elusive we got great shots of the common dolphins. We seem to forget all of the beautiful adventures that are so close to home. We have already made plans to take another tour!!

I thought this event was very educational for my 6 year old niece. The Tour Guide provided much needed information on the ride and pointed out sea life and explained their contribution to Sea Life!

We had decided to see California from the water and had settled on a whale watch. What a great surprise to find 1/2 price Tuesday. The crew was friendly, the water was calm and the dolphins fun to watch. I am still determined to see a whale. Maybe next time?

Entertaining and educational even though we saw no whales. The crew went to great lengths to keep us amused and informed. Lots of dolphins. Lots of fun.

Although there were no whales in sight, the show that the hundreds of dolphins provided was great. The weather couldn't have been better and the information provided by the crew was most interesting. They were very patient with all of our questions. I never would have known that so many dolphins would be in a pod. Also the interesting way the birds gave the signal to the dolphins as to where the fish were was something I wouldn't have imagined. Great trip and I will be back hopefully to see a blue whale!

First time trip for my husband and I during an anniversary trip to San Clemente. We loved it and will do it again next time we are in the area! No whales unfortunately but there were TONS of dolphins and it was a beautiful ride. We took advantage of their half price tues/wed deal and at 14.50/person for 2 hours of entertainment it was an amazing deal. We chose the 10am departure so the weather was perfect and the parking at the marina was a breeze. I highly recommend it!

I went with my adult son and daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren. We all had a great time and saw many whales and dolphins. We will be taking this trip again soon. Wwe had such a good time.

HI, We made this a family outing. Grandpa, grandma, three mommies, two daddies, nine kids from 3 to 15. It was the first time for many of the kids and they were excited to ride on the big boat. We saw lots of dolphins -- no whales this time -- and the weather was perfect. The crew members were courteous and helpful and friendly. The boat was neat and clean and in good repair. All in all, a fun experience for everyone. Thank you.
