Perfect finish to a great vacation!

Diver Ed and Captain Evil (I think that is the name he used, I call her Captain Edna) were superb hosts, educators and entertainers. Our grandson is 9 and our granddaughter is 12, both sat on the edge of their seats the entire trip. Diver Ed interacts with the group while walking along the ocean floor with Mini Ed. As he discoveres the sea creatures he shares the various aspects of each one. He then places them in a safe bag to bring onboard for all to see and touch. They had the opportunity to hold sea cucumbers, scallops, crabs, lobsters, sea stars, sand dollars, star fish and even a sponge; many in various sizes. We not only learned of the living sea creatures but also the equipment required to allow Diver Ed to walk along the ocean bottom. The kids had great fun "helping" him into the water and expanding his water suit upon his return to the boat. We recommend any kid at heart to join Diver Ed and Captain Edna on the Starfish Enterprise for a trip you will not soon forget.

Hilarious

A trip aboard the Starfish Enterprise was so much fun. Diver Ed is as interesting as the many varied sea creatures he brings to the surface for learning and laughs. We will go again!

Good for first timer... Not so for Adventure

Its OK.. You get to see marine life although as video which eddi takes using his camera.... Really speaking its fun for eddi.... It would be exciting if we go in and see that marine life... But uncertified divers are vulnerable to accidents.... In short it is fun for children and not so for people looking for adventure..

An unusual educational fun time for any age

Super hero Diver Ed and his side kick Captain Evil provide an entertaining 2 hour ride combo dive in beautiful Bar Harbor Maine. The dynamic duo take you out to discover the area around Bar Harbor describing the various sea life you will encounter. Then the real fun starts once they drop anchor. Diver Ed dives down and video tapes the bottom of the bay describing what he sees while you watch it all happen live and dry on deck with Captain Evil's comments filling in the blanks. He then returns to the boat with bags of the various fauna found, puts them in tubs, talks about them then lets you and the kids handle them! How much better can it get? Diver Ed is careful to explain what dangers might be associated with the animals he's brought on deck but you see with what care he gives to each and every creature. After every one gets their fill Diver Ed then lets them all go back into the bay. I've done this trip 3 times and each time it has been different and no less entertaining. I highly recommend this outing to all!

Kid focused boat ride opportunity
Fri, Sep 4  1:30 PM mbmcquil Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Last year we went on a lobster boat ride with our 2 children, aged 2 & 4. My husband enjoyed it, but I spent most of the time trying to not have the kids be disruptive or fall over board. They were engaged for about 5 minutes. This year we went with Diver Ed. The focus was on the kids. They had a blast. The 5 year old said she loved pushing Diver Ed off the boat and the pictures we took show how much they enjoyed picking up sea stars, lobsters and crabs. I enjoyed myself much more and the kids did too. We all did plenty of laughing while learning a lot about sea creatures. To fully appreciate this trip your kids can't mind getting a little wet. If trying to get out on the water in Bar Harbor with young children, I highly recommend Diver Ed's dive-in theater.

Diver Ed and Evil Edna delivered with a highly entertaining show for both kids and adults. We learned a lot of fun facts about the sea creatures Diver Ed brought up. Watch out for spitting scallops!

We picked this excursion because of online great reviews. And it did not disappoint. The kids loved the interaction and hands on. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

A great, fun, informative trip for all ages. My 3 year old was thoroughly enthralled with all the "sea creatures" as was I and it was a beautiful day on the water...very relaxed group activity for a change!

Best nature cruise on the coast of Maine

To paraphrase the bandit in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," "we don't need no stinkin' children" to have a ball at Diver Ed's Dive-In Theater. Ed is a perfect blend of John Belushi and Jacques Cousteau (with a dash of Soupy Sales) and entertains and educates 10 years olds and AARP veterans in equal measure. It's easy to underestimate the importance of this kind of joyous instruction, but someday, somewhere, some kid who's been on Starfish Enterprise will find that he has a personal interest in acting on some information about a danger to sea life because of the fun that he had that morning in Frenchman's Bay. And the world will be a little better place. Diver Ed's interaction with the kids on his boat is at a perfect pitch. It's loud, sometimes scary ("Here, kiss this sea cucumber!"), it's funny, and it's always full of the love he has for what he's doing. If you're within a hundred miles of Bar Harbor, if you have children, grandchildren, or no children, treat yourself to a couple of hours at Diver Ed's Dive-in Theater.
