Dive-In Theater Boat Cruise of Bar Harbor

I had heard about Dive-In Theatre through the intenet. When we got to Bar Harbor it was also recommended by friends and family. Diver Ed and Captain Evil are two folks that are truly doing what they love. Dive-In Theatre is education made fun. Kids will love Diver Ed's antics and even adults will laugh the whole time while they're learning about marine life.

I blindly picked this tour off the internet (National Park recommended) and thought that we were going for "Diver Education" but it turns out (not to ruin any surprises) that the diver is actually named Ed. Ed, along with his wife, are so personable and educational that we laughed and learned so much about sea life. My girls (ages 13, 10 and 6) had a blast and I enjoyed myself as well. The boat is clean, fee reasonable and really worth going on. It is like the Discovery Channel meets the Comedy Channel. Would so do this again:)

If you have kids I highly reccommend diver ed. It was so much fun for the kids and adults too. It kept the kids interested the whole time. It was really cool to see diver ed on the tv screen and see what he was doing under water. Then you get to touch the critters he finds. Very interesting. I give it 5 stars.

Diver Ed is the best activity in Bar Harbor for children and adults. Ed, and his cohort , Evil Edna, are funny and informative. Every time my family from New York visits, this is the first thing they want to do! I really like how Ed and Edna make it a point to reach out to the shyer children in the audience. EVERYONE has a good time!

Diver Ed was fantastic! Our whole family enjoyed it. It was fascinating to see on the tv screen what was happening under water. The kids (and adults) loved seeing the sea creatures he brought back up with him. We learned a lot, but in a very entertaining way. I would highly recommend Diver Ed's cruise to anyone who is visiting in the Bar Harbor area!

My 8 yr old and 4 yr old LOVED the experience. Riding on the boat, watching Diver Ed via the TV screen, then touching and learning about all the sea life. Wonderful views of the harbor and surrounding islands from the boat.

We were a group of six - ages ranged from 5 to 66. We all had a terrific time and learned a lot about the sea creatures in Frenchman's Bay. The kids (ages 5 & 7) were totally into kissing crabs, holding sea stars, making sure they were looking at the right (not poopy) end of the sea cucumber, and touching and holding all of the other creatures Diver Ed brought on board. Diver Ed engaged every kid on the boat with touching and holding the creatures, and he made a point of talking to every adult on-board. I can't recommend this activity highly enough. It's a really fun family outing with something for everyone.

I heartily recommend this trip- both for the fun and the educational opportunity. Ed obviously loves what he does and makes all on board appreciate our natural world- in this case, the ocean and its inhabitants. As we were returning to the dock, he spotted a group of porpoises- turned the boat on a dime several times for us to see these beautiful creatures breaking the surface of the water. We had a great time-it even lasted over the 2 hour advertised time- to give us a wonderful afternoon.

Just the right amount of time - the kids, ages, 5, 7 and 9, all had fun.
