Dive-In Theater Boat Cruise of Bar Harbor

We returned home from our recent trip to Bar Harbor and my two children are still talking about their experience with Diver Ed. Diver Ed has a true talent and perfect personality for entertaining and educating children and their families. His sense of humor captivated the adults and the sea creatures he found enthused our kids. Captain Evil was an excellent partner for this trip. I tend to get seasick very quickly, but this boat was stable and the crew did an excellent job of anchoring the boat so the waves were minimal. The sighting of the harbor seals basking in the sun was a welcome surprise. We also loved seeing the beautiful Newfoundlands - they were so well behaved! This is a trip that we will certainly return to Bar Harbor for!

The Dive In Theatre boat trip is one of Bar Harbor's best attractions. Diver Ed was engaging, energetic, and comical. He did a great job of holding the kids' attention (even us big kids) as he talked about the sea creatures he brought up from the ocean floor. He came around to each and every one of us to shake hands and introduce himself. Both he and his wife were warm and friendly people. The beautiful Newfoundland dog was a bonus to the trip. I went with my nine year old daughter and my mother. We could not stop smiling and laughing throughout this unique learning experience.

We had such a great time on our boat trip. We went July 21 (Wed). My 4 and 3 year old loved it. The baby liked parts of it too. It was funny and informative. We'd recommend this trip to anyone. My kids really liked touching the sea critters. We also liked the detours to see the harbour porpoises and the seals. You might want to mention that the group leaves the museum to go to the dock at 9:15. We would have arrived a few minutes earlier. Thanks - Wark Family

We loved the Dive-In Theater trip! Diver Ed, Edna, and the crew were wonderful and very entertaining and informative. The adults as well as our sons, ages 14 and 10, enjoyed the experience as well as learned a whole lot. It was amazing to see the actual floor of the ocean with its creatures and experience what a dive was like. The creatures were then brought up and explained about. After that, they were placed in containers so that all of the children as well as adults could touch and hold them before they were released back to the ocean. My sons were afraid that they would be 'too old and cool' for such an experience, but they thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very clear that Ed, Edna, and the crew love what they do and enjoy working with children, and families, and teaching about the wonders of the sea. This was a wonderful family experience that we will treasure for life. I am so glad that we went on this very unique experience.

This was my second trip with Dive-In Theatre. Last summer I brought my English family who loved everything. This summer I brought my Alaska family (son, wife, granddaughter age 2, grandson age 4.). Everyone had a great time even age 2 loved the boat trip and was fascinated with the touch tank. For age 4, even though he is shy, this was pretty much the best event of the visit. Because Diver Ed is a natural showman (and wonderful with all the children) as well as a naturalist, all the adults had a great time too. Ed's wife took the time to bring some sea life to me, since I am rather lame - how considerate. Most interesting was that while we were later waiting for our dinner to be served in Bar Harbor - age 4 identified all the sea life from my rather sketcky drawings. So it was a lot of fun, a lot of laughter and some real learning. I would recommend this for all ages - even a group with no children.

Very entertaining for the kids but enough information to keep the adults' attention.

My husband and I took our 6 year old grandaughter and this was the highlight of three years in Bar Harbor. This is truly an educational experience as well as just plain fun for any age. Our granddaughter learned so much about sea life and had so much fun doing it. We had gone to the Oceanarium the day before which turned out to be very beneficial because a lot of the sea life that Diver Ed brought up she had seen at the Oceanarium and was able to pick them up there and learn about them, and then Diver Ed brought a lot of it down to a 6 year olds level of understanding. This is a don't miss trip, we will do it again.

Loved by the grandchildren, enjoyed by the parents and grandma too. Diver Ed and Captain "Evil" are brilliant with the children and the kids learn a lot while giggling. I have taken an 8 year old last year and a 5 year old this year.

Diver Ed was fantastic our children ranging in ages from 7, 5, 2, and 3 absolutely had a ball, and the adults loved it just as much as the children.
