Diver Ed and Ranger Eleanor were excellent!

We loved the entire set-up of this boat tour. The trip out to the cove was filled with Ranger Eleanor's 'fun facts' about the area and the wildlife. We saw eagles and seals and plenty of seagulls before Ed even dove in the water. Once Ed was down under, he projected from his camera to a wide-screen monitor so we could all see everything he was encountering. It was really entertaining and informative with 'Captain Evil' (his wife) narrating. Then, Diver Ed brought the creatures up to individual touch tanks on the boat so we could all get a closer look. The overall tone was informative and educational, but was also entertaining enough to engage both our boys -- 13 and 6 -- as well as my husband and me the entire time. Totally recommend this boat tour for anyone interested in marine life and the Downeast Maine area!

We definitely enjoyed the trip! Diver Ed, Captail Evil and Ranger Tony are wonderful hosts. Ed went down to the bottom of the ocean with his camera. We had a blast watching him catching the sea creatures! In particular, we liked the punches the lobster gave his camera when he was trying to get it. I saw the biggest scallope that I've ever seen. The kids had a blast holding the sea creatures that CaptainEd brought up--lobsters, crabs, sea urchin, sand dollar, sea cucumbers, etc. Ranger Tony has a wealth of knowledge about the creatures. It was both entertaining and educational. It was definitely the highlight of our trip to Acadia. By the way, we took the three-hour trip instead of the two-hour trip they usually recommend for little kids. My two little kids (8 and under) were totally interested. I would recommend this one over the shorter trip.

Our extended family of 8 (4 kids ages 7-13 & grandparents) LOVED Diver Ed's tour. It was voted the favorite experience of our weeklong Bar Harbor vacation! We took the 3 hr tour with the park ranger. Ed loves what he does and has a hilarious way of showing everyone the wonderful world underneath the water. We all learned a lot and enjoyed getting to touch the sea creatures Ed brought up...including a 30 inch lobster. We would do this again!

unusual look at the scene below the waves

Though occasionally corny, this televised dive and inspection of sea life was relaxed and fun. The boat is comfortable, the ranger is knowledgeable and low key, and the scenery is great. This tour is especially good for people with very little prior knowledge of marine life, and particularly geared toward children.

We enjoyed the program immensely. Diver Ed provides an entertaining, informative, and innovative activity for all ages. Our National Park Service ranger Eleanor was also well informed and extremely knowledgeable. This program should be on everyone's " must do" list at Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Diver Ed and his wife, Captain Evil, were great! And so was Park Ranger Tony. They gave us a very informative cruise that was fun and funny too. We got to see the creatures under water in their native habitat via Diver Ed's camera, then they brought the specimens up for us to see and hold close up. I would highly recommend it!
