Dive-In Theater with Diver Ed and Captain Evil

Watch Ed gear up and dive down to the bottom of Frenchman's Bay where he gathers crabs, lobsters, sea stars, scallops and more. We sat comfortably on the boat and watched Ed's dive via a large screen TV. The creatures were brought on board and introduced to the audience. An on-board marine petting zoo! Our trip featured two rangers from Acadia National Park. We learned so much about the bay and Maine! My kiddos also really enjoyed spending time with the two Newfies that sail with Ed and Captain Evil. Thanks Ed! Thanks Captain Evil! We had a great time and the bay is beautiful! There's also a shorter trip geared to kids younger than our 10 and 14 year olds.

The kids really enjoyed the trip. Diver Ed was entertaining whie Captain Evil was informative. The opportunity to actually touch the ocean life was exceptional. We took the trip with 2 Park Rangers whose expertise added to the experience. A definate must do! Also, please note, in spite of the warm weather, bring jackets! We heeded other recommentations and were glad we did!

They (sister and husdand) loved the trip. Thought it was wonderful. I had been on the "childrens" trip with Diver Ed and Capt. Evil and felt their presentation was more fun and had just as much information. It is a great way to introduce guests to all the wonders of the ocean.

Ed And his wife along with the Ranger know their stuff and presented the subject matter beautifully. Without question one of the highlights of our visit to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Wonderful afternoon. However; getting to and from the boat is difficult if one is elderly or handicapped.. Parking is at a distance from the meeting place and the walk to the boat is long and steep. Some form of transportation such as a golf cart would have been appreciated..

The boat cruise with Dived Ed and the Acadia National Park Rangers was not cheap, but it was a lot of fun. We saw dolphins as we headed out to the dive spot. Then we circled an island and saw lots of seals playing in the water near the shoreline of the island. Then we anchored and Diver Ed jumped in the water with his video camera. There was a large flat screen TV at the front of the passenger area. As Diver Ed was in the water, he would talk to us from underwater and describe what he was seeing. Anything interesting he would put in his dive bag to be brought up later. My kids had a blast as Diver Ed hammed it up, pretending to be attacked by various creatures and having mini Ed (a small plastic toy) also explore and "get into trouble" After Ed was done diving, he brought up all the various sea creatures and everyone had a chance to hold or touch them. This really made an impact with the kids as they saw everything in their native environment and then we saw and learned about the creatures from the Rangers. So the whole experience was educational and fun at the same time.

Despite the rain we had a great time. Diver Ed does a terrific job of finding creatures and bringing them up to see and then release. You get a great view of the bottom of the ocean with the dive camera. Captain "Evil" Edna isn't evil at all--very friendly and informative during Ed's dive. The rangers were knowledgeable and helpful and so were Spencer and "The Professor". Loved the big, sweet doggies, too. Ed is especially good with the kids. Lots of fun for young or older people. It was pretty wonderful to be able to touch giant starfish and sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and crabs and lobsters. Wear layers and raingear--even though the boat is covered, it's open to the elements, which makes it more fun, but also wet! Highly recommend!

We're in our early sixties, and I think we had as much fun as the little kids. I learned things about our ocean life that I never knew. Highly recommended for a day of fun.

An informative narative of live sea creatures who live under the water. Diver carries a camera with him under water so you view the sea creatures he sees and retreves into his bag to bring up for us to view and hold. The children loved it, and so did we. We saw also, sea lions, eagles, dolphins, an enjoyable day. Park ranger informative, captain, and diver and all aboard kind, helpful and knowedgable would recommend to anyone especially families much more interesting than a whale watch. thanks had a great time.
