Well worth it

This is the second time that I've done the Dive In Theater and both times were fun, entertaining and educational. There were enough differences between the 2 trips to keep me interested. It's definitely something that you won't see anywhere else. Ed really enjoys his work, as does the Park Ranger and Captain Evil, and it shows. You won;t be sorry.

Fun evening

We went as two families, that included a 2-year-old and 9-year-old. It was a very rainy, wet and windy evening. Yet within minutes of getting onto the boat, Diver Ed and his wife had everyone laughing and forgetting how wet we were. They provided lots of entertainment. It was perfect for the 9-year-old, both the humor and education. While most of the narration was too advanced for the 2-year-old, she especially loved the second half, when she was able to touch all the different sea creatures that Ed brought up. She also enjoyed watching the screen showing what the underwater camera was capturing. Highly recommend for families with children. Adults all had fun too. Ed and his wife are extremely welcoming and friendly, making sure everyone is comfortable. Don't worry if it's raining on the date you have tickets. The boat has a canvas roof that pretty well shields the rain from above, and you can sit towards the center to avoid rain coming in the sides. Bring a wind breaker and perhaps warmer clothes than you think you really need. Wouldn't bother bringing food or drink, even though they allow it. The time is short and there's too much to see while aboard, and eating would be a big distraction from the show.

What an amazing show!!! Diver Ed and his crew put on the best show on the island. He is funny and teaches the kids all at the same time. Captain Evil, his wife, is the best compliment for Diver Ed. It's a must if you come up this way!!!

Our family had a fun time with Diver Ed and crew. We laughed. We kissed sea cucumbers. And we learned a lot about lobsters and sea creatures Diver Ed brought back from the ocean floor. Diver Ed is both a teacher and an entertainer, and Captain Evil does a great job hosting the "show" while Diver Ed is down below. We're already looking forward to next summer's adventure.

They do a great job with making the children feel welcome, they are funny, it's educational for all in a very enjoyable setting, and the underwater live views of the sea life are excellent. We did enjoy the cruise and learned a lot.....However..... our youngest was 14, and we were hoping for more "Views of Acadia/Mt Desert Island" and there was very little of that. So, we picked the wrong cruise trip. If your kids are 10 or less this is a great cruise. If you are looking for a nice tour of Mt Desert Island/Frenchman's Bay/ lighthouses, etc, though, you should choose one of the other cruises that are advertised. Ed and his wife are great folks and do a great job.

This was our third time with Diver Ed over the last 7 years or so. While I was concerned that after so much time they might not have been able to keep things fresh, I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only were things just as good, in some instances they were better. The new boat is nice, and the new HD camera and screen made the viewing experience much better. Diver Ed is great with the kids, and Captain Evil (his wife) and the staff were very accommodating. Highly recommended!

My husband and I went on the Diver Ed Dive-In Boat Theater Cruise. We found this both entertaining and educational. Diver Ed was great with the children on the boat. The animals he brought up for us to look at were very interesting and more diverse than what we've found in tidal pools. The video during the dive had pictures sharper and closer-up than we expected. We're both biologists and still learned several new facts about the marine life. Would definitely recommend this to others, particularly those with elementary aged children.

Diver Ed is great with kids and adults

When we signed up for Diver Ed, we thought it would be a highlight of our Acadia trip for our daughter who is 11. All of us immensely enjoyed it though. Ed and his wife are wonderfully warm people who are great with both kids and adults. Although most of the kids on the boat were younger than our daughter in age, she loved the whole excursion. Ed and his wife made everyone on the boat comfortable and kept all of us laughing while we learned about ocean creatures. They reached out to everyone, even young kids who were initiallly timid about touching the sea creatures. It was quite simply a wonderful time!

Visitors: Two grandparents in their 50s; Two parents in the 20s and 3.5 year old little girl. Beautiful boat, smooth ride, great entertainment and educational experience. Edna, Ed and Newfoundland dogs exceptional hosts. Very knowledgeable and their interaction with the children was exceptional. The new LCD TV system works great. We even took pictures of what we saw on the TV screen. Museum at College of the Atlantic was a great place to meet before cruise as it was awesome, too. No one is too old to enjoy this cruise. We give it five stars.
