Good for first timer... Not so for Adventure
Sun, Sep 6  1:30 PM DeepakRaina Male 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Its OK.. You get to see marine life although as video which eddi takes using his camera.... Really speaking its fun for eddi.... It would be exciting if we go in and see that marine life... But uncertified divers are vulnerable to accidents.... In short it is fun for children and not so for people looking for adventure..

Another great adventure with Diver Ed!

I took my son to see Diver Ed four years ago. He was only 3 1/2 at the time. Ever since then he has been asking me when he can go back. We finally had a chance to go again this year, and brought some friends with us this time. The boys had a great time, and are already asking to go again! We won't wait for 4 years again!

Diver Ed is fantastic with the kids, and very entertaining with the adults too. The experience is very interactive, watching Diver Ed roam under water with his HD video camera on a big HD projection screen. He brings up a collection of animals, and the kids get to hold the animals and learn about them at the same time. Highly recommended for families and those curious what's under Frenchman's Bay!!

The echinoderm affair

One of the best investments of our summer vacation dollars this season. Our 9:30 Diver Ed Cruise mastered the fine balance between entertainment and education. We laughed and learned and were sad when it was over. The working dynamics of Diver Ed, Capt. Evil and Little Ed are just right. Little Ed's love affair for all things briny, spiny, and slimey is a true testament to kids that all living things deserve love and respect. Thanks Diver Ed, Evil and Little Ed. It was a blast.

This was a fun 3 hours. Diver Ed and crew were very informative. The Ranger assigned was well qualified to inform us of what we were viewing. Hands on experience of sea creatures. I never thought that I would actually hold a sea cucumber. Our group certainly enjoyed this 3 hour tour.

I have lived in Bar Harbor for awhile, but only when some family came to visit did I go on this trip. It was amazing. I would recommend to anyone, but if you have kids, especially in the 4 - 12 age range, they shouldn't miss it. As a teacher, I was amazed and how much everyone laughed, while at the same time a very wild character gave them real marine biology and local content. My sister-in-law almost passed out, she was laughing so much. The underwater pictures were amazing, the narrative great, and the trip went by without a hitch. However, remember that it is Maine and with any breeze it can get cool, so really dress warmly, you can always take off layers. Having a love for dogs is helpful (2 big newfies slowly roam around the boat collecting head rubs for much of the ride). We were out for a bit longer than the scheduled two hours, so I wouldn't make any immediate reservations for after the trip, perhaps stop by the College of the Atlantic natural history museum on the way out, or if you are early.

Entertainment Above and Below

Our group consisted of two moms and kids ranging in age from 7 to 12. We were all thoroughly entertained. My son loves nature, the ocean, science and this was right up his alley. It was a great learning experience that captured our attention. One of my son's friends that came with us raved about it to his family. His father said that going out to dinner that night took over two hours because his son talked non-stop about the experience. This would be well worth doing again.

Fun and educational cruise

Diver Ed is not shy about releasing his inner 10-year-old. That makes him entertaining to children, teens and adults. (Imagine John Belushi in a dry suit..) The national park ranger, Eleanor, was informative and funny as well. A great afternoon.

Diver Ed and Captain Evil really make this a fun and educational adventure. The "theater" is very cool and the mini-Ed (we were the maiden voyage of Mini-Ed #90) really helped to put things into perspective. We all had plenty of time to touch/feel all that Ed was able to net and get lots of questions answered. I highly recomment this trip to anyone that is near Bar Harbor.

Entertaining and Informative

DIver Ed is one of those lucky guys who really enjoy their job! He is as fun as he is informative, showing us sea creatures that he brings from the floor of the ocean to his passengers comfortably seated in his fine boat. Hold lobsters, crabs, sea cucumbers, sea stars and more! The cruise takes you by Egg Island where seals are basking in the sun and close enough for some real good pictures. We even saw some young eagles on another of the islands we passed!

Best nature cruise on the coast of Maine
Fri, Sep 4  9:30 AM ilanah Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
To paraphrase the bandit in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," "we don't need no stinkin' children" to have a ball at Diver Ed's Dive-In Theater. Ed is a perfect blend of John Belushi and Jacques Cousteau (with a dash of Soupy Sales) and entertains and educates 10 years olds and AARP veterans in equal measure. It's easy to underestimate the importance of this kind of joyous instruction, but someday, somewhere, some kid who's been on Starfish Enterprise will find that he has a personal interest in acting on some information about a danger to sea life because of the fun that he had that morning in Frenchman's Bay. And the world will be a little better place. Diver Ed's interaction with the kids on his boat is at a perfect pitch. It's loud, sometimes scary ("Here, kiss this sea cucumber!"), it's funny, and it's always full of the love he has for what he's doing. If you're within a hundred miles of Bar Harbor, if you have children, grandchildren, or no children, treat yourself to a couple of hours at Diver Ed's Dive-in Theater.

Great tour of the bay floor, with lots of cool passing-around of animals found there.
