This activity was recommended for children. While the children on board had a wonderful time, so did the adults! The Park Ranger was very important to the success of this trip. (We were a group of adults) Accessing the boat is difficult for those who have difficulty walking the two blocks from the meeting point. (One of the groups on the boat). Plenty of extra time should be allowed for this purpose. Also come early to enjoy the natural history museum at the starting point. (The University of the Atlantic.) Parking was complicated. We were directed to a particular parking lot by Zerve agent. The parking lot attendant said that this was not necessary and we went back to park in a more logical place (closer to start of tour). Parking may be restricted when school is in session, but during August it was not.

we saw an eagle ,seals, and harbor porpoise before we even got to the dive location. the dive was the best live look at the ocean bottom that i ever had. Diver ed showed us all the critters on the bottom and then brought them up to the boat so we could handle them, and the ranger from acadia park explained each one. I will go back on this trip when i get to acadia again

All the staff, Diver Ed, his wife and the ranger, shared their knowledge with an enthusiasm that showed that they really love what they do. Diver Ed was both informative and entertaining, keeping both adults and children raptly attentive. The three hours went by quickly. I would do this again in a heartbeat and I was not that keen to begin with. But I would bring any guest on this trip. It was great fun!

Our group of four adults loved the Dive-In Theater. We have all been on many water tours but have never experienced the underwater camera before. It was fascinating. Diver Ed's knowledge and humor kept everyone on the boat fully engaged. I would do it again!!

Eddie is very entertaining. The kids in the crowd were eating up his antics, and it was impossible for the adults to resist his humor and effervescent personality. He kept us smiling and laughing. He was sometimes silly but not demeaning. It is amazing how well we could see the critters while Eddie was underwater, via the video camera and screen. I will not be able to dive to the bottom of the Bay myself, so to be able to do it virtually through Diver Ed was priceless. Once Eddie brought the animals up to the boat, it was so fascinating to be able to touch and see the critters up close. I would have liked a little more factual information, but that may have been difficult due to the need to keep the attention of the children in the crowd. Being out on the water, seeing the shore and islands from the water also gave us a great perspective. But wear layers! It is colder on the water than on land. Overall, it was an wonderful time and an excellent value for the money.

This was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Bar Habor. The whole crew of the Seal did an excellent job throughout our 3 hour trip around Frenchman's Bay. The park ranger on the trip was knowledgeable as to the ecology and geology of Mount Desert Island. Diver Ed and Mini Ed were hilarious and the live underwater footage was very cool. Being able to touch and see the sea life on the boat was interesting and my wife and I learned alot. Very good activity for children and adults too.

Great Experience, the Highlight of our trip!

We found the Dive-in Theater an experience we will remember. It was educational as well as a lot of fun. Diver Ed and Mini Ed put on a great show with the underwater camera as well as on board. I would love to come back and bring my grandchildren who were not with my daughter and I on this trip. Kids would love the experience of touching the marine life Diver Ed brought up from the deep. It was really facinating to see and touch live creatures that we had never seen other than in pictures. The Ranger also was fun. She made the education about the sea fun as well as interesting. We also enjoyed watching the dogs on board. The kids in the other families seemed to enjoy everything about the trip. We also were lucky to see a porpoise and several species of birds. I can't recommend this activity enough. Well worth the price.

Great activity for any age--young or old!

Well organized and well done activity by people who share their enthusiasm for what they are doing. We enjoyed the diversity of first cruising the water looking for wildlife that included birds and porpoises and then watching Diver Ed search for life on the bottom of the ocean. It was great first seeing the animals on the screen through the eyes of the diver's camera as he told us about the animal with his diver's microphone, and then watching as he put the animals into his bag to later bring onto the boat. We then had the excitement of getting to see, touch, hold, and take pictures of the animals--starfish, sand dollars, sea cucumbers, lobsters, crabs, etc.--after the diver returned to his boat with the bag. We have taken a lot of tours in the U.S. and Canada in the past few years and would rate this one in the "top five" of all our tours.

Creative and educational sea experience

We have taken a number of sea excursions. Because this was a unique idea, it was especially enjoyable. The live underwater photos gave a sense of a realistic experience. I liked the opportunity to physically examine the specimens from the dive. Because the ship was small (about 32 passengers), the experience was a more personal one. The park ranger's on going lecture during the dive made it an educational experience. Diver Ed has a terrific personality to make it a fun outing.

My wife and I spent a short weekend in Bar Harbor. There were many activities we wanted to do, but had to pick 2. I'm glad we decided to make Diver Ed's Dive-In Theatre one of them. We will be back to Bar Harbor, and when we go back, we will do Diver Ed's again. Diver Ed and his wife are great people with an amazing knowledge of sea life. You get a great boat ride with an excellent view of the harbor, an exciting, hilarious and educational live underwater show, and to top it all off, the live video is in high definition. Every minute was worth every penny. Thanks for making great memories Diver Ed! We can't wait to see you again! Scott & Colleen

Loved every minute. There was plenty to see around us as we traveled to the dive spot. The camera work and hands-on look at sea creatures was interesting to us adults as well as the youngest children on the boat. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and held our interest.
