Jack Black meets the Discovery Channel

This outing was the highlight of our trip to Acadia. Diver Ed is a world class entertainer with an amazing repertoire of sea life knowledge. His supporting crew are also first rate. This is an activity that is fun for both adults and kids and a bit different with each trip - the vast majority of people on our trip had been out at least one time before. The Discovery Channel should discover this guy - seriously!

Highly Entertaining & Educational!!!

The Dive-In Theater Cruise was one of the best parts of our vacation. The whole family was able to enjoy and participate in the cruise. Diver Ed brings the ocean floor to you for you to see. We were able to see and touch lobsters, several types of crabs, sea urchins, several varieties of sea stars, sand dollars, and a sea cucumber. We also saw seals and bald eagles on the way to the dive site. The crew even took the time to pick out a piece of plastic from the water so no harm would come to any sea creature. They truly have a love for the ocean and all animal life.

Most Memorable Part Of Our Trip!!!!

Diver Ed is our kid's favorite part of our trips to Bar Harbor. We have been on Diver Ed's cruise 3 times so far and will always make sure to see him when we are in town. He has a wonderful way with children and his energy is infectious! Everyone on his cruises learns so many fun facts about the sea creatures. When people ask us what we did on our trip to Bar Harbor, my kids always recount their Diver Ed cruise details first and foremost as the most fun thing that they did. My 14 year old daughter who won't do anything in front of anyone that might embarrass herself, has so much fun on this cruise and even kissed a crab on the "lips." My 10 year old son's smile never leaves his face while he is on board. Diver Ed's sidekick (his wife), Captain Evil, is wonderful too and has such great, funny stories about Diver Ed and the various mini Ed's over the years. We encourage anyone with kids or without to attend Diver Ed's Dive In Theater. It has always been a highlight of our visit to the area and is well worth the $. It is an experience unlike anything you have ever had!

Our group had a fun afternoon with Ed and Edna. Diver Ed was really funny and got all the kids involved in his presentation. He made my son feel special with a "Mini-Ed" birthday gift which was such a nice and unexpected surprise! We all had a great time and enjoyed our time with Diver Ed.

Fantastic educational entertainment!

My husband, two boys (ages 8 and 10) and I recently joined Diver Ed, Deckhand Dick, and Capt Evil on one of the best Harbor cruises we have ever been on. Diver Ed's enthusiasm for the ocean wildlife is contagious and impressive. With every creature that Diver Ed brought on board, it was as if he was greeting an old friend or it was the first time he had ever encountered the critter. Being able to watch the animals in their natural habitat via the underwater camera was amazing. The vibe on ship is welcoming and Diver Ed and his crew make sure you have a trip you will not forget. When we return to Bar Harbor next year, one of the first things we will do is book our cruise with Diver Ed. Don't miss this unique and memorable family entertainment!!

Loved every minute. There was plenty to see around us as we traveled to the dive spot. The camera work and hands-on look at sea creatures was interesting to us adults as well as the youngest children on the boat. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and held our interest.

Absolutely AWESOME! Highly recommend to families!

We set out on a foggy evening cruise. From the very minute we stepped on board, Diver Ed was entertaining. Captain Evil (there's a theme of super heroes!), a.k.a. Diver Ed's wife Edna, gave a super on-boat play-by-play of the view from the underwater camera as Ed dove for wonderful sea treasures. Our 3 daughters, ages 10, 8 & 5, were amazed. Their descriptions are: Fun!, Hysterical!, Awesome!, Exciting! Once Diver Ed was back on board, he discussed the sea creatures that he brought up from the ocean floor...we got to hold lobsters, sea cucumbers, sea stars (starfish), one little sea urchin (pretty rare, apparently), sand dollars, different types of crabs, and much more! (Oh...there were several young boys on the boat, and they howled with laughter when a sea cucumber "pooped" on camera.--of course, the girls all went "ewwww", and pretty much the whole boat was in stitches!) My husband & I found it both entertaining and educational --or "funducational" as my husband says! (but shhhh--don't tell the kids!) The fog lifted as we headed back to port in time to see a fabulous sunset over Bar Harbor. One of our girls and another little boy on the boat spotted a seal swimming near us on the return trip, too. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to families. We hope to do it again the next time we're in Bar Harbor. Book it quick, before it sells out!! You'll be glad you did!! :-) TC Richmond, VA

Great for all ages

This was our second time, the first when the kids were younger and they never stopped talking about the experience. They are 14 and 17 now and insisted we go again. They just love watching the underwater experience live. We'll do it again when we visit Bar Harbor in the future. Diver Ed gets pretty siily with the kids so if that's not your thing then it's probably not for you. If you enjoy getting silly with your kids then I highly recommend it. Very educational in a fun way.

Great Fun !

This was our second time on Diver Ed's boat. Our children are 8 and 6 now and I think they are the perfect age for this. Our youngest was 2 the first time and she stayed back with a family member, this time she enjoyed it so much, and was able to sit and really appreciate what was going on. Not only is this an educational experience for both the children and parents, but very funny. Diver Ed is someone your kids wont forget, my daughter even had a birthday party themed after the experience, with touch tanks filled with water and fake sea animals! You will see all of the real thing on this activity, though, and to me it is worth every penny.PS--This time it was on his new boat, which was awesome!

Part Learning Adventure/Part Comedy Show
Sat, Jul 5, 08   1:30 PM tammycover Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was a fantastic way for our family to spend their afternoon. The tour is led by Diver Ed with help from Captain Evil. It was very educational - even us adults learned stuff we never knew and saw the underwater animals both in their natural habitats and up close and personal. If that wasn't enough, Diver Ed and Captain Evil's commentary is hillarious. It's almost like being on a floating comedy show. We highly recommend this tour !

Don't Miss It If You're In Bar Harbor!

My wife, 10 year old daughter and I were repeat visitors to Diver Ed's trip. This trip is highly entertaining and educational. Diver Ed gets the kids actively involved in the process of learning about the animals that live in the sea. After his dive Ed (along with dive partner "Mini-Ed") brings a collection bag of animals to the boat for everyone to touch and interact with. He talks about each animal, explaining its life cycle, eating habits and other interesting facts. Among the animals that he brought aboard were sea stars, urchins, crabs, lobsters and sea cucumbers. Ed's presentation is hilarious as well as informative. I can't recommend his trip highly enough! Ray Hooton Clarkston, MI

See what the ocean floor looks like
Fri, Aug 7  1:30 PM szar123 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Diver Ed is an interesting guy and looks like he likes to entertain, very active. It was really interesting when he went down with the camera and we got to see what the ocean floor really looks like. Captain Evil did a good job at answering questions on the local waters. After brining up the sea creatures that he found on camera I felt that he spent too much time letting us touch and feel them. Most of the boat saw what he brought up in the museum’s tank before the cruise. I found the underwater camera part to be the most interesting. More time with the camera under the water and less time above water with the catch. Overall it was a good time and I would recommend as an attraction when in Bar Habor.

My son had a fantastic time and talks about Diver Ed anytime he is talking about the trip or animals he saw. It is a great presentation of sea life and a fun way to learn about them and touch them. We will do it again when we visit again.

LOVED IT!

A friend had told us that Diver Ed was a "must do" in Bar Harbor. I saw the brochure and wouldn't have gone based that but our friend's recommendation was so enthusiastic that we had to do it. All of us loved it. It was fantastic, entertaining, funny, and educational. Highly, highly recommend! When we went on the trip, his diving buddy "Mini Me" was #93. I wonder what number he'll be on the next time we go.
