Diver Ed

Diver Ed was great! He works hard to put on a good show for the kids and he's great with the kids. Very funny and lots of fun! They are real people, it's not all commercialized - which we loved.

I grew up going to Bar Harbor several times a summer and never knew about Diver Ed and am so sorry I'm am only learning about him now. I'm sure I would have ended up in marine biology had I participated prior to now! Diver Ed and Captain Evil have a fantastic camaraderie and make it the unique experience that it is. They help define FUN when it comes to learning (as well as defining hands on learning!). I don't think this will be an experience my family will ever forget. And a special note if you have squeamish or shy little ones...they are quite adept at recognizing boundaries in kids--they know when they can tease certain kids and back off (particularly younger ones) others so that they are not intimidated. Oh...and the Newfies they have on board are gorgeous!

What an amazing show!!! Diver Ed and his crew put on the best show on the island. He is funny and teaches the kids all at the same time. Captain Evil, his wife, is the best compliment for Diver Ed. It's a must if you come up this way!!!

Diver Ed and the crew were warm and welcoming. His enthusiasm was infectious and the children loved his storytelling and jokes. Lots of good information was folded into fast-paced fun. The use of the digital video and the hands-on access to the sea creatures was great for the learning styles of young children. My son is still talking about the experience a week later.

We have taken our three grandchildren on the Diver Ed trip for the past several years and it's always a hit--with the kids and us! Not only is the dive-in theater lively and fun, it's also educational for the kids. They carry the lessons learned with them and have become very interested in marine life.

This was our second voyage with Diver Ed and Captain Evil, it was as entertaining and educational as the first time. This trip is a must for all who visit Mt. Desert Island. We will, once again, set sail on the Starfish Enterprise the next time we are in Bar Harbor.

Our family had a fun time with Diver Ed and crew. We laughed. We kissed sea cucumbers. And we learned a lot about lobsters and sea creatures Diver Ed brought back from the ocean floor. Diver Ed is both a teacher and an entertainer, and Captain Evil does a great job hosting the "show" while Diver Ed is down below. We're already looking forward to next summer's adventure.

Best for families with kids who are under, say 13. Older kids may not be so much into the type of fun and hands-on experience. However, it is educational for all ages.

Diver Ed and company were very entertaining. They brought up all sorts of sea life from the bottom for everyone to look at and touch. The video feed was amazing HD quality. Dress warmly - we just about froze in late August and we were prepared with fleece jackets. It's a lot colder off shore.

Ed, his commentator wife and the ranger were all very interesting and fun. We should have been warned about the temperature. It was a beautiful day but even with sweatshirts we froze and were so cold it was difficult to appreciate the experience. Zerve should have cautioned us about the temperature so we could have been prepared. I would also recommend having blankets or extra jackets for customers. We had sweatshirts but others on board did not and were visibly impacted.

This is probably the best boat excursion to do with children--Diver Ed and his wife are completely engaging and also extremely educational. Our kids (age 7 and 3-1/2) learned so much from this excursion, as did we. You get to see all of the sea creatures in their natural habitat at first and then Ed puts them in the bag to bring them up on the boat for you to touch and hold--very cool.

We have taken the Diver Ed tour four vacations in a row and have loved the experience each time. Everyone has a great time.

Great personallity so outgoing and fun. Entire trip was entertaining no down time. This boat trip was a huge hit with all of us and we will do it again. AWESOME
