Dive-in Theater tour was great

| We participated in the Dive-in Theater tour with a park ranger and it was a great educational and fun experience! The ranger was very informative and kept the groups attention. Diver Ed was great! We saw all kinds of aquatic life both above the water and in the water. We were able to hold starfish, sand dollars, sea cucmbers, lobster, crabs, hermit crabs, etc... The tour was thoroughly enjoyed by both kids & adults. | ||||||

| 2 adults, 2 kids ages 8 and 11 went out with another family with a 2 year old and a 7 year old while vacationing in Acadia Park area. We loved Diver Ed, he was goofy in an entertaining way. The kids had a blast and learned a lot about underwater life in Maine. The 2 year old kissed a sea cucumber, and the 11 year old was fascinated by the "poop" of the critters. If you want to push diver ed off the boat, sit near the back of the boat. I am not one who usually writes reviews, but anyone who has the chance to go on this boat ride /comedy hour will not regret it. Have fun. | ||||||

| We set out on a foggy evening cruise. From the very minute we stepped on board, Diver Ed was entertaining. Captain Evil (there's a theme of super heroes!), a.k.a. Diver Ed's wife Edna, gave a super on-boat play-by-play of the view from the underwater camera as Ed dove for wonderful sea treasures. Our 3 daughters, ages 10, 8 & 5, were amazed. Their descriptions are: Fun!, Hysterical!, Awesome!, Exciting! Once Diver Ed was back on board, he discussed the sea creatures that he brought up from the ocean floor...we got to hold lobsters, sea cucumbers, sea stars (starfish), one little sea urchin (pretty rare, apparently), sand dollars, different types of crabs, and much more! (Oh...there were several young boys on the boat, and they howled with laughter when a sea cucumber "pooped" on camera.--of course, the girls all went "ewwww", and pretty much the whole boat was in stitches!) My husband & I found it both entertaining and educational --or "funducational" as my husband says! (but shhhh--don't tell the kids!) The fog lifted as we headed back to port in time to see a fabulous sunset over Bar Harbor. One of our girls and another little boy on the boat spotted a seal swimming near us on the return trip, too. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to families. We hope to do it again the next time we're in Bar Harbor. Book it quick, before it sells out!! You'll be glad you did!! :-) TC Richmond, VA | ||||||

| This was the absolute best thing we did on our trip to Bar Harbor. We have been visiting this area for about 25 years now, and this activity was one of a kind! It was informational and humorous. Ed and Evil (who is the sweetest person alive) are fantastic with the kids. My kids said it was "the best trip ever." But I would have enjoyed it even without kids. Some of my best vacation pictures are from the Diver's Ed trip. I have a fantastic one with sea stars stacked on my son's head! Oh, and now lobsters are his favorite animal. | ||||||

| We took off for our tour with Diver Ed and crew on a gorgeous morning in July. Our group included 2 kids (4 and 7.5), 2 grandparents and us (the parents). The trip was wonderful, educational, entertaining, and fun! Diver Ed and crew were able to keep our entire group (as well as a packed boat of passengers) engaged throughout the trip. He has incredible energy and a knack for teaching kids and adults about the ocean and the creatures who live in the dark, cold waters off the coast of Maine. The sight-seeing, the underwater video, and the touch-tanks of the creatures found under water make for a fabulous outing that we are looking forward to repeating next year. | ||||||

| Diver Ed was very entertaining and wanted to make sure his guests were comfortable and entertained. Everyone gets a chance to hold and touch all the seas creatures that Diver Ed brings back to the boat with him. He was funny and we enjoyed his interaction among the groups of people. When we went out with him his camera broke so we weren't able to see what the water was like underneath. Diver Ed was very apolegetic and gave everyone on board free return tickets. I was not expecting him him to do that at all as I thought that was just a minor inconvenience. Cheers to Diver Ed and his crew. I will mention that he did have 2 huge black dogs on board that were wet ,so if you don't like dogs I suggest you skip the boat ride or sit well in the back where the dogs cannot get to you. | ||||||

| We had a great time at the Dive In. Diver Ed and Captain Evil are wonderful. The presentation was educational and fun. The kids loved the hands on activities and Diver Ed's humor. The nature tour of the islands was nice. We saw lots of birds- including a bald eagle and seals. The ranger who gave our presentation was not great but different rangers rotate in and out of the theater so others may have a better guide for the ranger lead section. The sections presented by Diver Ed and Captain Evil were great- anyone with older kids (7 and up) would enjoy this. The regular theater is better for families with smaller children. My kids 5 and 11 had a fabulous time and it was one of their favorite activities on this vacation. | ||||||

| Diver Ed and his crew of Captain Evil and the Newfoundlands are outstanding. From the carefully marked path to the meeting spot to the personal farewell to each guest, the event represents careful and thoughtful planning. This is the best family adventure I have experienced as a parent and grandparent. It is wholesome, educational, and fun. The message of respecting the awe, wonder and dignity of nature is loud and clear, yet the entire event is comfortable and entertaining. I would not only recommend this activity, I would urge every family to experience it. When we return to Mt. Desert Island, we will look forward to another adventure with Diver Ed! | The Dive In Theater was a great time. Our two kids (ages 7 and almost 5) said it was the highlight of the trip. Diver Ed really seems to enjoy his job and provided an educational and enthusiastic program. From the trip out to the dive area, to the dive and video show, to the "touch the sea creatures" portion, he and his crew (Captain Evil, Lady Libberty, Leviathan, and Halo) had the whole family entertained. The use of Mini-Ed #89 during the dive was very clever and funny. I would recommend the trip to anybody looking for a fun and informative vacation activity. | ||||||

| This trip is fantastic for kids interested in sea creatures. It was also entertaining and informative for adults. Diver Ed has a great sense of humor and captivated the kids' attention. The touch and learn interactive time with the sea creatures near the end of the tour was a highlight for the kids. The boat ride is scenic and pleasant....we had a good time, and a lot of good laughs! | ||||||

| The Dive In Theater is FABULOUS!!! We had so much fun, Diver Ed is hysterical! Who knew such cool creatures were living down below the waves. We saw Barnacles feeding, Anemones, fast fish and very clever crabs we never would have seen if it weren't for Diver Ed and of course his faithful companion #89 We love Halo and Levi and think Captain Evil is the coolest Captain to sail the seas. | My wife, 10 year old daughter and I were repeat visitors to Diver Ed's trip. This trip is highly entertaining and educational. Diver Ed gets the kids actively involved in the process of learning about the animals that live in the sea. After his dive Ed (along with dive partner "Mini-Ed") brings a collection bag of animals to the boat for everyone to touch and interact with. He talks about each animal, explaining its life cycle, eating habits and other interesting facts. Among the animals that he brought aboard were sea stars, urchins, crabs, lobsters and sea cucumbers. Ed's presentation is hilarious as well as informative. I can't recommend his trip highly enough! Ray Hooton Clarkston, MI | ||||||
