Highly educational in a fun and interactive way

| I would highly recommend the "Dive In Theater Boat Cruise of Bar Harbor" to anyone, adult or child, but especially for families looking for quality experiences and school groups. Diver Ed and Captain Evil and staff are true professionals who seem to have a deep concern for safety and security, but know how to teach groups in an absolutely fun, educational, and participatory way. When we get to immerse ourselves in an experiential manner and walk away actually remembering facts and details, it is a truly educational and memorable experience. The Dive In Theatre also teaches kindness, love, and a deep concern for our watery environments. My only recommendation is perhaps the person who gives the initial commentary while the boat is working it's way to the diving spot, be more professional, perhaps a trained tour guide. Our gentleman was fun, but did not introduce himself, made some comments that were judgemental about wealthy families on MDI, held personal conversations with children while still on microphone, so not everyone was privvy to what was being said. Other than that (which is pretty minimal), it was a truly memorable experience. | ||||||

| I have lived in Bar Harbor for awhile, but only when some family came to visit did I go on this trip. It was amazing. I would recommend to anyone, but if you have kids, especially in the 4 - 12 age range, they shouldn't miss it. As a teacher, I was amazed and how much everyone laughed, while at the same time a very wild character gave them real marine biology and local content. My sister-in-law almost passed out, she was laughing so much. The underwater pictures were amazing, the narrative great, and the trip went by without a hitch. However, remember that it is Maine and with any breeze it can get cool, so really dress warmly, you can always take off layers. Having a love for dogs is helpful (2 big newfies slowly roam around the boat collecting head rubs for much of the ride). We were out for a bit longer than the scheduled two hours, so I wouldn't make any immediate reservations for after the trip, perhaps stop by the College of the Atlantic natural history museum on the way out, or if you are early. | ||||||

| Loved every minute. There was plenty to see around us as we traveled to the dive spot. The camera work and hands-on look at sea creatures was interesting to us adults as well as the youngest children on the boat. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and held our interest. | ||||||

| My 5 and 7 year old grandchildren were visiting me in Bar Harbor this summer and I booked us "passage" on Diver Ed's boat - they LOVED it and are still talking about it weeks later. Not only was it an adventure, but they learned about the sea life Diver Ed hauled aboard for them to touch and kiss. They can't wait to visit me and Diver Ed again next summer! | ||||||

| This trip with Diver Ed and crew was GREAT. We had three generations on the trip and everyone had a ball. Diver Ed is exceptional with the kids (whether they are young or young of heart). I know it is something my grandkids will remember and talk about for years. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We would go again. My grandson has Aspergers (on the Autism Spectrum) and he felt a part of the trip and had a great time, his mother is a Speech Pathologist and she was very pleased with how DiverEd interacted with her son and all the kids onboard. | This was a great family experience and our son is 17 yrs. old. However, other younger kids on the trip were also very actively involved, entertained and educated. Diver Ed and Captain Evil (his wife) were great. Very knowledgable and personable. Diver Ed is a trip; very funny and entertaining for all ages. Ranger Eleanor was also a great addition and served to add many interesting and educational facts to the trip. Technology was wonderful and added so much to the experience. All in all, great and highly recommended! | ||||||

| We brought our daughters, 12 and 14, on a repeat trip with Diver Ed after we all so enjoyed last summer's outing. This was even better. He puts together an afternoon that is informative, highly entertaining, memorable, and just plain fun. He has a gift for working with kids and is equal parts clownish entertainer, passionate scientist, and enthusiastic teacher. He excels in all areas. | ||||||

| This is my second trip to Diver Ed. This year, considering the vast amount of children on board and their young ages, the Park Ranger was speaking way over their heads. I preferred it much better with the humor that Diver Ed provided. Great underwater camera. Much improved pictures! | ||||||

| Diver Ed is not shy about releasing his inner 10-year-old. That makes him entertaining to children, teens and adults. (Imagine John Belushi in a dry suit..) The national park ranger, Eleanor, was informative and funny as well. A great afternoon. | ||||||

| I grew up on MDI, but my children and grandchildren only visit. They do live in Maine however. I thought the experience was a great one for all of them. They all enjoyed it. I understand the dogs being there, however, some of us have allergies to the dogs and some of the little ones were afraid of them. They were kept under control and they were very docile. | The Diver Ed trip is incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational trip in the Bar Harbor area. He has a real talent for entertaining kids and adults. It was the highlight of our 3 day trip to Bar Harbor. | ||||||
