Entertaining and educational for children

We made a reservation for Diver Ed primarily for our children. My wife and I enjoyed it, but it is definitely geared towards kids. Diver Ed is enthusiastic and entertaining, and made the kids laught a lot. Aside from being funny, it was definitely educational. All of us enjoyed watching the live video feed from underwater, and the kids really enjoyed holding the various sea creatures that Ed brought on the boat. Definitely a fun activity for families.

Perfect for kids

This was a great cruise for kids, and kept them engaged the whole time. The target age is about 5-9 years, but our 3 year old loved it and stayed tuned through the entire event. Kids got to touch all kinds of sea creatures. Diver Ed and Captain Evil were great with everyone. Beware the fart/poop jokes, but kids this age find them funny.

This activity was recommended for children. While the children on board had a wonderful time, so did the adults! The Park Ranger was very important to the success of this trip. (We were a group of adults) Accessing the boat is difficult for those who have difficulty walking the two blocks from the meeting point. (One of the groups on the boat). Plenty of extra time should be allowed for this purpose. Also come early to enjoy the natural history museum at the starting point. (The University of the Atlantic.) Parking was complicated. We were directed to a particular parking lot by Zerve agent. The parking lot attendant said that this was not necessary and we went back to park in a more logical place (closer to start of tour). Parking may be restricted when school is in session, but during August it was not.

we saw an eagle ,seals, and harbor porpoise before we even got to the dive location. the dive was the best live look at the ocean bottom that i ever had. Diver ed showed us all the critters on the bottom and then brought them up to the boat so we could handle them, and the ranger from acadia park explained each one. I will go back on this trip when i get to acadia again

Diver Ed provides a hilarious, educational and beautiful trip that gets everyone involved and informed about all the sea creatures living in the waters around Bar Harbor. I would highly recommend this trip for families or groups with children.

Diver Ed is insane! this was one of the best activities our family did in Bar Harbor - I loved Mini Ed's adventures under water, the video was awesome and he brought up great things for the kids to see and touch.

Our whole family -- parents and four-year-old son -- enjoyed our Diver Ed experience. Ed kept us laughing with his zany antics and we learned a lot about marine biology, too. "Evil Edna" was sweet and reassuring, keeping us posted on Ed's activities under the water. It was fun to actually see the bottom of the ocean floor, and then to meet the critters that Ed brings up. It was a unique experience and we would definitely recommend it to families visiting Bar Harbor.

You've never seen a show like this before!

Diver Ed and his wife, Captain Evil, educated us and kept us entertained during the entire boating and diving excursion. My three kids, ages 7,8, and 9, have all cited Diver Ed as the best part of our week-long vacation in Maine. They especially liked mini-Diver Ed, who is just barely shorter than the real Diver Ed. At least that is true according to Captain Evil. Overall, undertaking this adventure is highly recommended.

This cruise has been a highlight of our vacation for 3 years. And we were not the only family on the cruise who makes it a tradition. This is educational & entertaining for the whole family. My 3-year old loved learning about the sea creatures. My 1-year old even ejoyed feeling/ tasting the sea cucumbers. The new boat is nice & spacious. Don't forget about the other wildlife you may see on the boat: seals and bald eagles Another good note: rescheduling on short notice due to weather was hassle-free

Excellent for all age groups

Our three generation group all found this trip to be the highlight of our Bar Harbor vacation. Everyone got to participate in the hands on encounter with sea animals and all questions were answered patiently and in ways that we could understand. Watching the diver's finds on the big screen while he worked was amazing because we could see very small creatures greatly magnified. We recommend it most highly.

Fun and learning with Diver Ed

Diver Ed is a wonderful family activity in Bar Harbor. Ed himself is funny and the kids on board loved him. The kids get to hold, touch, or even kiss some of the creatures Ed brings up from the sea floor, and it doesn't hurt that you learn a thing or two about sea life in the process. I highly recommend this excursion if you have young children.

We have come to Bar Harbor for the past 3 years during our summer vacation but this was the first time cruising with Diver Ed. My children most emphatically said that next year we definitely, with out a doubt, will go with the crew of the Starfish Enterprise on another adventure again; no ifs ands or butts of sea cucumbers about it. After kissing many of the sea creatures Diver Ed stuck into their faces, my concern is that they will kiss anything now! Thanks Diver Ed!

the kids 5 & 7 really enjoyed the activity - the technology really enables interaction between us on the boat and the diver - and it was great to see the animals both in the their natural environment and later on the boat. everyone learned something.

A Bar Harbor Staple!
Thu, Aug 20  5:30 PM stelladr Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Diver Ed, and his wife are just awesome. It was so wonderful to see our kids so excited, and having so much fun. We have been to Bar Harbor many times before, but this is our first Diver Ed experience, and it will now become a permanent part of every vacation in Maine for us! One thing we strongly advise is to bring at least one jacket, if not two. It gets very chilly out on the water even when it is very hot in land. Thanks Diver Ed for a great experience!!!
