Went on Diver Ed (5:30 tour) during a windy rainstorm. Got drenched. No sun, grey skies -- and no one even cared! The kids had a blast and can not stop talking about him. Ed and Captain Evil went out of their way to keep people warm and dry and having fun. This is a must -- do activity...........

Fun evening
Wed, Aug 25, 10   5:30 PM saswan Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We went as two families, that included a 2-year-old and 9-year-old. It was a very rainy, wet and windy evening. Yet within minutes of getting onto the boat, Diver Ed and his wife had everyone laughing and forgetting how wet we were. They provided lots of entertainment. It was perfect for the 9-year-old, both the humor and education. While most of the narration was too advanced for the 2-year-old, she especially loved the second half, when she was able to touch all the different sea creatures that Ed brought up. She also enjoyed watching the screen showing what the underwater camera was capturing. Highly recommend for families with children. Adults all had fun too. Ed and his wife are extremely welcoming and friendly, making sure everyone is comfortable. Don't worry if it's raining on the date you have tickets. The boat has a canvas roof that pretty well shields the rain from above, and you can sit towards the center to avoid rain coming in the sides. Bring a wind breaker and perhaps warmer clothes than you think you really need. Wouldn't bother bringing food or drink, even though they allow it. The time is short and there's too much to see while aboard, and eating would be a big distraction from the show.

Wonderful activity. Both educational and highly entertaining. I went thinking the kids would enjoy it. They loved. it and I enjoyed it far more than I expected. I would highly recommend it to any family that have kids interested in underwater creatures.

Great hands on education for kids and adults

My grandson and I were repeat customers. We enjoy the high energy, humourous antics and education from Diver Ed and his wife Captain Evil, which begins the moment you board . They teach throughout the trip, involving the kids (and adults )with many hands on opportunities to handle and view sea creatures close up, which diver Ed brings up from the bottom. All the while, he is filming his activities from the sea floor and transmitting to the large screen TV on the boat for all to watch. The excitement builds. The kids can"t wait for him to come topside with his net bag of wonderous sea creatures to see and hold. Tickets may seem a little pricey to some, especially if you haven"t been before and are unsure of what you're getting. Rest assured, Ed , his wife, the crew and their 2 pouffy Newffies all work hard together to ensure you get more than your "monies worth" We, of course, will be returning next year. Very knowledgeable park ranger and crew. Excellent on-board camera. Diver Ed also servers as an entertaining stand-up comedian. His ocean finds are brought up for all to see and hold. Cost is reasonable. Highly recommend.

I bought tickets for visiting family (2 adults, twin 6 year old boys, and 4 year old little girl). They haven't stopped talking about it - especially pushing Diver Ed into the water! They all found it not only fun but informative, even the little one repeated what she had learnt about sea urchins, lobsters (she also changed Ed's name to Diver Dave for some reason...!). Excellent value, super fun for all ages and definitely an event to recommend to all visitors. Something that will bring them back again and again to our beautiful island.

Ed and Captain Evil do a great job showing the passengers about diving and what lives under the sea. They do all of this with a true sense of humor and have everyone on the boat laughing and learning throughout the trip.

Lots of fun - entertaining and educational

This was the 2nd time we did Diver Ed, and it was a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed it, and the adults laughed and learned a lot as well. We spend a lot of time on the water and in tide pools in Maine, so we already knew a lot of what Ed talked about and had already handled most of the sea creatures he brought up and discussed, but we still learned new things and had a great time. I'd recommend this for those new to the waters of Maine as well as "seasoned veterans". Very entertaining as well as educational, and the man REALLY loves his job.
