A great family activity-well worth the money

I took my two nieces on this trip two years ago and they never forgot it. When visiting with us this week, the first thing they asked about was if they could go on the Diver Ed trip again. They loved it this time as if it were their first trip. Diver Ed does a great job of managing excited children and including all who want to be included. He has a great amount of energy to keep both children and adults interested for the entire trip and takes time to interact with children and adults individually, asking where folks are from and including them in the presentations. This is a trip that should be a priority for all visiting and local families. For our extended family, this was a memorable trip, and the memories of the events are shared, nearly every time we gather.

We have come to Bar Harbor for the past 3 years during our summer vacation but this was the first time cruising with Diver Ed. My children most emphatically said that next year we definitely, with out a doubt, will go with the crew of the Starfish Enterprise on another adventure again; no ifs ands or butts of sea cucumbers about it. After kissing many of the sea creatures Diver Ed stuck into their faces, my concern is that they will kiss anything now! Thanks Diver Ed!

the kids 5 & 7 really enjoyed the activity - the technology really enables interaction between us on the boat and the diver - and it was great to see the animals both in the their natural environment and later on the boat. everyone learned something.

A Bar Harbor Staple!

Diver Ed, and his wife are just awesome. It was so wonderful to see our kids so excited, and having so much fun. We have been to Bar Harbor many times before, but this is our first Diver Ed experience, and it will now become a permanent part of every vacation in Maine for us! One thing we strongly advise is to bring at least one jacket, if not two. It gets very chilly out on the water even when it is very hot in land. Thanks Diver Ed for a great experience!!!

One of our family's favorite vacation traditions is Diver Ed. We usually go on an twilight cruise to enjoy the sunset while the kids laugh and giggle while touching and learning about sea creatures, including lobsters, scallops, sea stars and more. Diver Ed is funny and a great teacher.

GREAT MEMORIES

While this was a pricey trip for a family of 7 our children will never forget it. It was a very exciting trip. Diver Ed and his wife did a great job of entertaining and educating the whole boat. We saw eagles, giant lobster, a huge purple sunstarfish and many other cool ocean creatures you can't normally see. It was also very interactive and everyone had and opportunity to see and touch the bevy of creatures brought up from the deep. We all held our breath while mini Ed was in the clutches of a lobster! A whole lot of fun. You don't need sunscreen on this trip. The boat has a cover over it. Also, you may want to consider the tides and how steep the ramp up or down to the boat may be. We had a handicapped man on our trip who used all his strength to walk down to the boat and off the ramp after low tide. It was incredibly steep. We didn't have trouble navigating the ramp with our kids.

We (parents) and the kids loved it so much, we're already planning on building it into our iternerary for next year's visit. I can't recommend the Dive-In Theater enough. Ed, his wife and the ranger are fun, entertaining and educational. Thank you for one of the highlights of our vacation.

We had the pleasure of taking a trip with Diver Ed last week. In our group we had 4 adults and 5 children. The children ranged in age from 2-10. Everyone had a great time. At first we weren't sure if it was going to be too "young" for the 10 year old in our group but he had a great time as well. Diver Ed's humor and energy made for a highly entertaining (and informative) trip. This is a MUST for anyone traveling to Bar Harbor who has kids. My kids are still talking about it.

I took my son to see Diver Ed four years ago. He was only 3 1/2 at the time. Ever since then he has been asking me when he can go back. We finally had a chance to go again this year, and brought some friends with us this time. The boys had a great time, and are already asking to go again! We won't wait for 4 years again!

Diver Ed was very funny and great with the kids. They loved touching the sea creatures, throwing him over board and learning about the equipment. It was a nice, relaxing ride where both my 6 year old and 2 year old had fun! Highly recommend it.

The Diver Ed trip was terrific. We brought our 3-year-old and her aunt and uncle (ages 20 and 16) and all of us had a great time. Definitely fun for grownups, but especially fun if you have a little one(s) to share it with. Diver Ed is enthusiastic and a great entertainer.

This was our second time on Diver Ed's boat. Our children are 8 and 6 now and I think they are the perfect age for this. Our youngest was 2 the first time and she stayed back with a family member, this time she enjoyed it so much, and was able to sit and really appreciate what was going on. Not only is this an educational experience for both the children and parents, but very funny. Diver Ed is someone your kids wont forget, my daughter even had a birthday party themed after the experience, with touch tanks filled with water and fake sea animals! You will see all of the real thing on this activity, though, and to me it is worth every penny.PS--This time it was on his new boat, which was awesome!

I am orginially from Maine but was visiting with my husband and 5 year old son from Washington, DC. We had never done this event before, but after seeing the website before our trip decided to check it out. I am glad that we did! It combined having a nice open air boat ride with some entertainment for our son (we liked it a lot too!). I would highly recommend this to families. I would say that children under 3 won't really be able to sit for this show and ride. We had to turn the boat around at the start to bring back a very upset young one. Kids and adults over 3 will have fun! Go for it! Diver Ed and his wife are great!
