Broken Leg No Refund
Sun, Jun 16  10:00 AM yogagirl1966 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Upon arrival in Maine, I broke my leg hiking. We contacted Zerve and Downeast Duck Adventures directly to ask for a refund for an upcoming tour (in 2 days). We offered all records from the hospital saying I was immobilized and unable to participate. I asked for even a partial refund and they could resell the seats. The owner declined and we paid for a tour that we were unable to participate in because my family was traveling home so I could see an orthopedic surgeon in Florida. It seemed unreasonable and unfair. I wouldn't buy tickets for this unless you buy them as a walk up at the desired tour time/place.

We love the Duck- every year!

We love taking the Duck each year. Sometimes we go with our daughter and her family. This time our son and his family were able to go! The Guide had excellent knowledge of the area in it's past and present, along with a great sense of humor. This is one activity you do not want to miss if you're visiting Portland! Traveling on land and in the ocean is so enjoyable!

Stuck at sea
Sun, May 26  1:30 PM fire1234 Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
We went out Saturday at 130 pm and almost got hit by 3-4 sail boats from a sailing class.. We finally hit a large sailboat that mas tied up to its mooring and the mooring rope got stuck under the boat and tires of duck boat. We where out in the ocean for an hour in the wind and rain freezing cold. it took a towing salvage company just about an hour to get us free. When we got back to duck boat home base all the manage/owner/captain said was have a good day...(not sorry) or did we get a free ticket for another duck boat ride in the future... Common courtesy would have been good by them to treat there customers with respect ! I felt my safety was at risk during the water part of the trip. The conditions in the water where not good !! I personally would have felt comfortable if the coast guard would have come and stand by during the ordeal. I was honestly going to call the coast guard in maine to discuss what happened out there. I felt also life preservers should have been handed out...Just in case....I heard a lot of comments by other guests on board after and there where not happy people !!!! I will say the guide who did the talking on the land part of the trip did a great job. I have worked in public safety all my life and will tell you that I thought things should have been handled differently !! You ask for my opinion and here it is !!! I was not happy and am still pissed of about it !!!

I would recommend this tour for all ages.

We brought our grandchildren ages 10 & 13, we all enjoyed the trip, however I would recommend you check the weather forcast before going on this tour as it is open air and it can get chilly on the bay. The day we went it was light rain and windy and in the mid 50's, but we had fun anyway . Our narrator was interesting with a lot of fun facts.

Fantastic!

We've never been to Maine but my 36 yr old husband only went because the rest of us wanted to. Half way thru he was frozen (wear warm clothes!!!) and could only move his lips when he said 'this is so much fun! I'm so glad u thoughtful this! It's only $25? Can we go again?' He said if he lived in portland he'd go every week! I can guarantee you every time we visit portland to see my sister we will be re-taking the duck tour. The only thing I HIGHLY recommend is lots of coats. The coffee shop next food must make most its money from frozen duck tourists! It is much colder than when you shop in town.

Great family outing

Informative and entertaining. Much nicer than Boston Duck Boats but not as fast in the water. Captain Joe suggested some near by lunch spots and even produced a few discount coupons!

It was fun but wish there could have been more detail about the history of Portland. Too much time on the water.
