Day on the Duck

I booked the Duck Tour as we were arriving by cruise ship and only had a few hours to see the area. Boarding was very convenient location to where we were docked. It was a cold day but the driver had blankets if needed. Our guide was very entertaining, lots of local knowledge and "wicked" cute to boot!

LOVED the commentary - knowledgeable and very funny. Learned so much about Portland, and I thought I knew it all by now.

Good with a bit of room for improvement.

The guide was enthusiastic about his hometown, and told funny stories. The one area that I felt could be improved upon was on the land part of the tour; buildings or monuments would be pointed out, but there wasn't time allowed for taking pictures. It was pointed out, and then we immediately passed it.

Entertaining guide, but not that much to see

The Portland Downeast Duck Tour had a guide that kept us entertained during the ride. That's good, because there really wasn't that much to see on the trip. We passed a few local buildings of marginal historical importance and a few lighthouses and forts way off in the distance. The "duck" wasn't a genuine WWII DUKW vehicle. It was homemade by the driver, according to the tour guide. The ride was comfortable. We didn't get wet (good).

Cruise ship passengers enjoyed Downeast Duck

We cruised on the Carnival Glory and purchased tickets in advance online, not from the cruise line excursions, but directly from Downeast Duck. Saved lots of money buying the tickets this way and really enjoyed our tour of Portland. Very easy walk from cruise ship to the beginning of the tour.

Our guide was knowledgable and had a great sense of humor. I've lived near Portland for many years and always wanted to do this tour. Finally did. What a perfect way to spend the afternoon. I also learned a lit about our fair city!

Unexpected Delight

When we first got on the Duck Tour, we weren't sure what to expect. As the bus started to move and our guide started to talk and made everyone feel welcome, we knew we made a good choice. We learned some facts about Portland as we toured the town and my kids thought going in the water in a bus was the coolest thing ever(so did my husband and I). Overall, we had a great experience.

I just moved to Portland and wanted to take a guided tour. The tour guide was fun, the tour itself was a great overview of the City, and going out on the bay ("hahbah") was a special treat.

We enjoyed our land/sea tour. Tour guide was informative/funny. A good way to see the sights of Portland without walking.

I've lived in the Portland area for 9 years, but still learned a lot on the Duck Tour. And my parents (from away) really enjoyed it as well. It's not perfect for really young kids (mine are 5 and 3), but overall, I thought it was great.
