Elegant Tightwad Shopping Excursions

I was disappointed that we didn't visit any of the advertised brands or even brands I have heard of. I only liked 2 of the 6 showrooms but I did buy a few nice items. Those 2 were great quality. One of the showrooms was poor quality and no one in the group purchased there. The items I bought are nice but they were not as discounted as advertised nor were they the brands that were advertised. I think it's hit or miss and you have to be willing to risk your $90 and 4 hours of vacation time and walk away disappointed.

Lou was our guide and great at encouraging, helping and joining in with suggestions. The variety of wholesale locations we visited allowed for everyone to enjoy something for themselves and we had a range of ages in our group. Sizing is pretty limited to anything over the size of 12. I would recommend this activity to anyone who loves to shop and interested in the most updated fashion.

We went to 4 places where only buyers are allowed. Nothing is open to the public. All the prices were at least 50% off. At one place I was actually measured for the outfit! I will definately do this again.

The weather was rough, but the tour was fantastic! Most of the tour was indoors with only short walks in between each stop. Our tour guide was fabulous and gave us tips on bargaining and opened our eyes to new looks. I'm a plus size girl and that was no issue. The price ranges were at all levels. I came home with some great unique finds and 2 weeks later I'm still grinning at my treasures! I will be a return visitor as I'd like to try the accessories tour and the consignment tour. I may even repeat the Garment District Diva tour when the seasons change again. Well worth the trip even in the bad weather and was a great time to bond with my girlfriends. This is a cant miss! Just take a tour. YOU WILL NOT REGRET. What can I say? I'm a fan and I'm hooked!

This shopping tour is fantastic. This is the second time I have done the tour as I was in New York with my sister two years ago. The prices are amazing, the tour guide is very helpful and you'll get a chance to buy clothes from designers you might not otherwise have a chance to know about. It's also very cool to see how the garment district works.

The first three stops had lovely clothing but there was virtually nothing in my size. In addition the first shop was mostly fur and I have no interest In shopping for coats with fur. I commented ahead of time that I was interested in jackets and coats for a tall size 12 and found Nothing without fur. The last store had a bunch of very cheap Clothing.

What a great event to share with my daughter-in-law who is in her late twenties. She loved going to meet the designers and see the rooms where the clothes were created. She also loved the prices. I found some great things myself. The others who shared the tour were just great "new" friends. Our tour guide was awesome.

I signed up for a group tour, but ended up being the only person, so instead of missing out (because we were leaving the next day) I opted for the personal tour and I am so glad I did! Pamela takes the time to learn your size and what you are looking for, and is even a mind reader! I said nothing to her about looking for my dream coat - a camel hair, knee length - but the first place we walked into had a full rack of beautiful coats displayed right in front. I spent almost 2 hours just trying them on and then trying to narrow down which one(s) to get. And the owners of that showroom only added to the fun I was having. I highly recommend that you make this a part of your plans and even to plan a trip around a tour! I know I will be looking forward to going back to NYC for more than just the shows. And they also have places they can take you that includes men's clothing so you don't have to leave your significant other/husband to fend for themselves ... but then again, taking them makes it difficult to hide the evidence! LOL

My daughter and I were on a mother daughter trip to New York for the 2nd time. We love to shop so this tour was perfect for us. Our tour guide Pam, was so much fun and very knowledgeable. We will definitely do this tour again on our next visit to New York.

spent way too much time walking back and forth between places some were right across the street from each other but we went several blocks over to another place and then back tracked, A few of the place only had 1 or 2 racks of clothes to look at, most of the clothes were a size 4 noone in our group happened to be a size 4, thought most of these were not open to public all but 1 were open to public, to those of us that went on this it was basically a waste of time

I really enjoyed my tour of the Garment District with the gals at Elegant Tightwad and I especially am enjoying my purchases! Pam and Lou were extremely helpful and I can't wait to go back to New York in the fall and do the Accessory Tour!

It was fun. If you have other sizes them US (exampel europén). Be preped of whish US size you have. Makes it easier. And be open minded. At some place there are a LOT to choose from somtimes à few .

We actually did the trip on 3-16. I was really looking forward to this having worked in the industry for years. I did not find the value as I had anticipated. Several of the stops were not for the taste level of me & my friend. Stops were more oriented for the young crowd, not professional woman as I had wanted. I had hoped to put together a group from my area for a future trip, but think they would be disappointed. Not planning a return booking.
