Enthusiastic knowledgeable tour leader

Our leader gave us a great overview plus supporting detail that enabled us to enjoy our tour of Ellis Island. He had worked there for three years and was aware of the history and procedures of Ellis Island. By having his input initially, we had a framework to enjoy seeing the building and its history on our timetable. This was like a Gray Line tour that gives you an overview and then allows you to explore some areas in more detail as your time allows. The tour also points out many Internet possibilities for genealogical research that I was not aware of previously. The tour also has a tremendous exhibit on the Basques and their history. I would recommend this tour to anybody. It really brings forth our heritage and the individual processes that each immigrant underwent at Ellis Island in order to be admitted to the USA.

Very interesting visit but mage all the more interesting and worthwhile by use of individual guide Tom Bernadin. He had a very "user friendly" wat of conducting his tour.

Great insight into immigration/Ellis Island role

Fascinating descriptions of Ellis and Liberty Islands and role of these places in development of America. Much better than any museum movie or descriptions since Tom explains what really happened to a new immigrant when arriving at the Island and what the place really looked like. Having a personal tour guide with such knowledge exceeds all expectations. Also arriving very early in the day is the only way to avoid the long lines that exist after 10 am. You need to be on the first boat. He will be offering Greenwich Villiage tours soon.

A highlight of our visit to New York....

Time spent on this tour was very worthwhile. Tom is very personable as well as knowledgeable, but most importantly, he takes a personal interest in those taking the tour....making sure he addresses their particular interests. The fact that he sincerely enjoys what he is doing is very evident. We would likely take this tour again on a return visit to New York.
