My friends and I had decided to fly to San Francisco for a long weekend trip. We found the Whole Shebang tour on line and decided to give it a try. It was a very good choice. Our guide was fun and informative. We took the tour our first day and it helped to show us the sights and history of San Francisco so that for the rest of our trip we had a better understanding of the city. We would highly recommend this tour. We did have one problem. We were given stick on name tags at the beginning of the walk and when it came to the end, one of my friends could not get it off of her jacket. Don't wear the name tags. |

The tour was very informational and we did learn some interesting tidbits about the city. However, it is advertised as a comedy walking tour, and there was far more history than comedy. The jokes that were told were mediocre at best. I really enjoy history, but I think I would have enjoyed the tour more if that was all I had been expecting. My friends and I were mostly looking forward to the comedy aspect of the tour, and this is where it was most lacking. |

We'd arrived form NZ the night before, and this tour gave us an introduction to San Francisco, some history, some perspective and some bearings. It was entertaining and we enjoyed it very much. |

If you like walking and experiencing a city from the ground this tour is for you: walk from Nob Hill, through Union Square, the alleys of Chinatown, and ending in North Beach you really end up with a great feel for the layout and history of San Francisco. |

Good walking tour - tour guide was very knowlegeable. Because the tour lasted longer than scheduled, we had to leave early for dinner reservations. |

This was an unbelievable tour!! We had a private tour with Tom Smith, he was very informative, interesting and fun. We had no idea of some of the facts we learned dispite lots of online research. The 3 hour walk was fine for myself, my 66 yr old mother, 12 yr old daughter and 10 yr old son. We covered so much ground and so much of the city that at the end we could not think of anything else we wanted to see. I would highly recommend this tour no matter if you are in town for a week or a few days. |

My friend and I took the tour and ended up getting a private tour! It was extremely interesting and fun at the same time. We totally recommend it as a great intro to the city! Oh there were also very little hills! |

More historical than current

Not having been to San Francisco in 20 years, thought tour would provide current information about the city. The tour also had more stopping and talking than walking. If we had walked more, we would have covered more of the city. Most information provided was historical. More current information would have been helpful - museums, restaurants etc. |

I liked the additional questions and quirkiness of this walking tour, however for 3 hrs it did fail to keep me occupied (although this in part was probably my own mood already).
It was quite expensive, so do not think I would say it was value fo money. |

I, a local, had never been on this type of tour and thought it looked interesting when looking for activities for my two visiting nephews (age 19). We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour - it was fun, educational, and a great and different way to view and explore (parts of) the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, easy to follow, and interesting.
The tour - history-wise - focused mainly on the original settling of the city plus the rebuilding of the city after the 1906 earthquake/fire. Not that this wasn't interesting, but I think I was expecting a bit more comprehensive historical perspective (like what's been going on over the last 100 years?). I may have misinterpreted the description of the tour... and/or maybe three hours just isn't enough time to cover 160 years ;)
I would recommend this tour to anyone - and I'll keep it at the top of my list for all future visitors. |
