Our guide, Kurt was great. A good overview of that part of SF. I'd recommend two changes: 1. start at 930 so it ends at a more reasonable lunch time 2. at the end, be helpful if he recommended places to eat. We had only 5 on our tour and 3 or us from Union Sq....so we climbed up to the top of he hill...only to walk back down....maybe a way to fine tune the stsrting point???? you knew where we were staying..... and his recommendation for House of Nanking for dinner was right on, plus the elevator from St. Mary's Sq. to Chinatown.......who knew?

Not sure if the guide had had a hard night before, but he was somewhat boring and prone to memory lapses. I don't consider acting out roles to be fun - my expectation was that the guide provided the fun - through commentary content and delivery.

I would pay more money for more value

I am fan of walking tours. Attended lots of good ones in the US and Europe. This wasn't one of them. Stories are too general, superficious. Talking about the gold rush in general...? Details that one remembers were missing. Has a short "expiry date".

Locals Enjoyed Learning About Their Home

We are long-time local residents yet learned so very much on this tour - we had a great time with "Tom" whose wit & knowledge were very entertaining. We'd highly recommend this tour not only for tourists, or for entertaining out-of-town guests, but for anyone wanting to know more about the place we call home.

Definitely a great way to learn your way around the city. Our guide gave us much of the scoop with a lot of humor. Totally enjoyed the day. Thank you!

The tour was fun and informative. They put a nice twist on group tours by making it a bit of a game show with trivia questions without making you feel uncomfortable or on the spot. Three hours of walking seems overwhelming especially in hilly san francisco but it was leasurly with may stops and mostly down hill. I did enjoy the tour but have to say overall I think it's a bit overpriced.

Guide Tom was a hoot, but also very knowledgeable about SF hisory, architecture, etc. His humor was dry, which we really enjoy! Saw parts of the city, especially Chinatown, into which we would not otherwise have ventured.

A visual history lesson

We learned a lot about the early history of San Francisco while seeing four neighborhoods (Nob Hill, Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach) that arose as the city was built and rebuilt. Our guide was knowledgeable but also entertaining...we enjoyed the jokes and added a few of our own! If you've never been to SF, or even if you live there, you are bound to learn a lot. At the end of the tour, you'll know where to go for great shopping, dim sum and espresso!

Our tour guide knew a ton of San Fran history, so it was a fascinating tour, and we saw areas we never would have found on our own!
