I was born in SF (3rd generation), spending only the first 9 years of my life there. As an adult, my family enjoys regular trips to the city for dinner, shows and other activities. The Whole Shebang was quite informative and Tom pointed out so many things that have been right in front of our eyes for years but never noticed! The city is magical and the stories of how it came to be were very enlightening. To our surprise, our tour was only the two of us with Tom - too bad - it would have been fun to have experienced this with a larger group. |

We saw a lot of the city with a fun tour guide. I would recommend it to all adults of any age but not for kids. |

BORING!!!!
THere were a lot of people in our group and the guide was very boring. One couple left half way through and we left 3/4 through.
The jokes the guide did tell were not really approrpiriate for my 17 year old girls. |

The Whole Shebang was a very informative tour, although I thought it was weighted a little too heavily on Nob Hill. While informative, it was not at all funny.
Our tour guide seemed very uncomfortable and awkward. He was so set on sticking to the script, that anything that we added threw him off. He was totally unaware of our comfort. It was very windy and cool. He would stop us out in the open, when we could have stopped 8 feet away and been out of the wind. He never offered us a chance to stop and get something to drink. He was very concerned with getting through his script and staying on task. He also didn't read his audience well. We were the only four on the tour and we are between 45 and 58 in age. Because he couldn't think on his feet, he rammed right through with his idiotic bathroom humor, even though we were not responding positively.
So, no I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. |

Our guide knows his stuff and was funny at the same time. Some of his photos could have been larger so they would be easier to view. Overall, the 3 hour tour, which lasted about 4.5 hours was fantastic. Tom made the history come alive with his laidback style. He also did a great job in directing our group and keeping the locals in check from taking over with their stories. You get a great deal of information on the people of SF and the architecture. I would recommend this tour to anyone who visits the city. Thanks. |

My friends and I had decided to fly to San Francisco for a long weekend trip. We found the Whole Shebang tour on line and decided to give it a try. It was a very good choice. Our guide was fun and informative. We took the tour our first day and it helped to show us the sights and history of San Francisco so that for the rest of our trip we had a better understanding of the city. We would highly recommend this tour. We did have one problem. We were given stick on name tags at the beginning of the walk and when it came to the end, one of my friends could not get it off of her jacket. Don't wear the name tags. |

The tour was very informational and we did learn some interesting tidbits about the city. However, it is advertised as a comedy walking tour, and there was far more history than comedy. The jokes that were told were mediocre at best. I really enjoy history, but I think I would have enjoyed the tour more if that was all I had been expecting. My friends and I were mostly looking forward to the comedy aspect of the tour, and this is where it was most lacking. |

We'd arrived form NZ the night before, and this tour gave us an introduction to San Francisco, some history, some perspective and some bearings. It was entertaining and we enjoyed it very much. |

If you like walking and experiencing a city from the ground this tour is for you: walk from Nob Hill, through Union Square, the alleys of Chinatown, and ending in North Beach you really end up with a great feel for the layout and history of San Francisco. |
