just OK

I was looking forward to a comedian-led tour but unfortunately this day it was led by an actor. Nothing against him, but when you're expecting a wise-cracking tour guide and the tour takers have more of a sense of humor than the guide.. well it's just not quite what was advertised.

Good information -- just not enough of it!

As a former tourguide, I know how difficult it can be to fill some of the time between "sites," but I wish our guide had a little more running commentary for some of walking time. But the tour was fun and informative, and the guide likable.

Great tour for locals and visitors

I, a local, had never been on this type of tour and thought it looked interesting when looking for activities for my two visiting nephews (age 19). We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour - it was fun, educational, and a great and different way to view and explore (parts of) the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, easy to follow, and interesting. The tour - history-wise - focused mainly on the original settling of the city plus the rebuilding of the city after the 1906 earthquake/fire. Not that this wasn't interesting, but I think I was expecting a bit more comprehensive historical perspective (like what's been going on over the last 100 years?). I may have misinterpreted the description of the tour... and/or maybe three hours just isn't enough time to cover 160 years ;) I would recommend this tour to anyone - and I'll keep it at the top of my list for all future visitors.

My adult daughter and I were very entertained - and learned a lot, too! Tom was a great tour guide. We had so much fun with the small group we were with that we continued on our own down to the wharf afterwards and had a late lunch together. Would definitely do it again!

Good walking tour

I liked the additional questions and quirkiness of this walking tour, however for 3 hrs it did fail to keep me occupied (although this in part was probably my own mood already). It was quite expensive, so do not think I would say it was value fo money.

Not too bad a tour

Anson was the guide. My main criticism is that I wish his voice was louder. Our group consisted of 6 people, but I can't imagine having a larger group and fighting to get close enough to the guide to hear him. I suggest that the guides wear a small mic. Given city noise like traffic and construction it would be helpful. There were times that I could not hear what was being said. Who knows how many tidbits I missed. It would have been nice if at the beginning, he had us all introduce each other. I expected more of a comedian as well. Anson was reasonably funny. Though he had many facts at his fingertips, I was expecting more. Example: the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral, I would have thought he knew more about it. The distance covered was just right, not too long. Maybe my expectations were too high? I don't know. I wouldn't let this experience prevent me from trying a foot tour again, at least one more time.

My grandson and I were delighted with the Tour

We both learned a great deal. I am a native San Franciscan with a fair knowledge of the city and its history. However, I learned many new and interesting facts. I was espciallly pleased about how our guide structured the tour to relate to me and my grandson---a bright 11 year old. Many thanks, Martin Weiner

I loved the fun, relaxed atmosphere of the tour. Even though I had been to San Francisco several times, I learned interesting and little known facts about this beautiful city!

Informative, but not funny.

The Whole Shebang was a very informative tour, although I thought it was weighted a little too heavily on Nob Hill. While informative, it was not at all funny. Our tour guide seemed very uncomfortable and awkward. He was so set on sticking to the script, that anything that we added threw him off. He was totally unaware of our comfort. It was very windy and cool. He would stop us out in the open, when we could have stopped 8 feet away and been out of the wind. He never offered us a chance to stop and get something to drink. He was very concerned with getting through his script and staying on task. He also didn't read his audience well. We were the only four on the tour and we are between 45 and 58 in age. Because he couldn't think on his feet, he rammed right through with his idiotic bathroom humor, even though we were not responding positively. So, no I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone.
