| The good humour and fun we expected from this tour was wonderfully delivered by Kim. We were a smaller group and he tailored it to us specifically. We met some great people in the group, lasting friends and Kim provided some wonderful suggestions for eating out and partying on in the area. (...all the suggestions delivered!) | ||||||

| I loved the fun, relaxed atmosphere of the tour. Even though I had been to San Francisco several times, I learned interesting and little known facts about this beautiful city! | ||||||

| As a former tourguide, I know how difficult it can be to fill some of the time between "sites," but I wish our guide had a little more running commentary for some of walking time. But the tour was fun and informative, and the guide likable. | ||||||

| The Come Out to the Castro walking tour was a highlight of our trip to San Francisco. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned much more than I ever expected about the history of the Castro neighborhood. Had a great time. | ||||||

| Our tour guide was AJ, and she made the tour a fantastic experience. With a blend of humor and knowledge, we explored the history and legends of Nob Hill, Chinatown and North Beach. The tour lasted longer than 3 hours, and all our questions were answers and anticipated. We recommend this highly. | ||||||

| My wife and I enjoyed our tour and the tour guide was excellent! He showed us all of the Castro district and the walk was fun. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see and learn about an interesting neighborhood of San Francisco. | ||||||

| I was born in SF (3rd generation), spending only the first 9 years of my life there. As an adult, my family enjoys regular trips to the city for dinner, shows and other activities. The Whole Shebang was quite informative and Tom pointed out so many things that have been right in front of our eyes for years but never noticed! The city is magical and the stories of how it came to be were very enlightening. To our surprise, our tour was only the two of us with Tom - too bad - it would have been fun to have experienced this with a larger group. | ||||||

Targeted to the Gay Community
|
|||||

| The instructor was knowledgeable and entertaining but the tour attendees were all gay except for me, my husband and my 2 guests. My guests were not comfortable with that. I didn't know my guests would be so narrow minded (they aren't from California). They wanted to leave halfway through. (Their loss). So potential tour attendees should be advised that this tour is highly popular with same sex couples and if they have a problem with that, they should stay at home, watch Milk on DVD, and get an attitude adjustment. I thought the tour was authentic and I felt better informed. | ||||||

Fantastic tour - walking the Castro

| Kim was an interesting and informative tour guide, and we learned so much about gay rights and gay "firsts" - the rainbow flag, the first gay bars, first openly gay elected officials. Brilliant to see Harvey Milk's shop and hear about the making of the film. Loved the humour and the "campness" of the boa as a competition prize! Thanks so much, a really worthwhile activity. | ||||||

| Tour was indeed fun, but somehow from the website photos I expected some six foot plus drag queen or some other equally over-the-top character. Updating vendor website (FOOTtours), maybe with photos of the area?? may be more authentic. Rest assured, though, the guide is great and so is the tour. Much of the information covered was of a serious and sobering nature so the lighthearted approach quite literally provided comic relief. Wouldn't want to do this tour any other way. Guide gave plenty of information in excellent detail. He wove together many trivial bits into a cohesive "greater than the parts" whole. Tour was a good pace, both in delivery of information and ground covered, but felt a little rushed initially due to late start waiting for one no-show. Kim was very attentive and gave us a requested break of a quite reasonable length of time. He was patient with all questions and thoroughly knowledgeable. I learned so many new things, I wish I'd taken notes to remember it all! As an older straight woman, I never felt unwelcome. Kim made an effort to briefly speak with each and every one of us personally. My daughter and I even enjoyed arriving early and having lunch at our designated meeting place. Yes, I would definitely recommend this tour to adults of any orientation. When visiting San Francisco, this is not to be missed! | ||||||

Totally fascinating insight into Castro

| Kim was an excellent guide. He provided a witty, factual insight into the history of the Castro. It was good to learn about the history of the area in general as well as gay history. Kim's combination of humour, quizzes and quotes made the tour fun as well as informative. And how could we forget having the opportunity to walk around the castro wearing a rainbow feather boa! We would strongly recommend this tour. Don't just think about it - do it! | ||||||

Rockin' and Rollin' in the Haight

| Our group consisted of my husband, myself, our adult daughter and her boyfriend. We met our guide, Ken, at the Peace Cafe and from there experienced a wonderful blast from the past on a two hour tour through Haight Ashbury, The guide held little contests that you could partake in if you chose, which were fun. The route that our guide took was just perfect. Somehow or another he managed to avoid any steep hills and still show us a wide cross section of the Haight. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the hippie era or for those who just love to look at all the amazing homes build there! | ||||||

| BORING!!!! THere were a lot of people in our group and the guide was very boring. One couple left half way through and we left 3/4 through. The jokes the guide did tell were not really approrpiriate for my 17 year old girls. | ||||||
