Good walking tour - tour guide was very knowlegeable. Because the tour lasted longer than scheduled, we had to leave early for dinner reservations.

Viewing the Haight through music
Sat, Apr 11  1:00 PM S_Feldman Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
The tour was informative and fun -- although it focused primarily on the music scene of the 1960's-'70s. I would have enjoyed learning about other aspects of that era, as well.

This is the ONE tour to take!!!
Sun, Apr 5  1:00 PM alainenesti Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was an unbelievable tour!! We had a private tour with Tom Smith, he was very informative, interesting and fun. We had no idea of some of the facts we learned dispite lots of online research. The 3 hour walk was fine for myself, my 66 yr old mother, 12 yr old daughter and 10 yr old son. We covered so much ground and so much of the city that at the end we could not think of anything else we wanted to see. I would highly recommend this tour no matter if you are in town for a week or a few days.

Kirk rocks!
Sat, Mar 28  1:00 PM sloanemo Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
I took the tour with my two adult sons. It was just the three of us along with our tour guide. Kirk was very infomative, funny, and navigated the streets so we didn't have to climb the steep hills. We had fun trivia games and learned to hippie dance to the music of the day. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone wanting a taste of the 60's and this great neighborhood.

My friend and I took the tour and ended up getting a private tour! It was extremely interesting and fun at the same time. We totally recommend it as a great intro to the city! Oh there were also very little hills!

What a "Grand Day Out"
Sat, Mar 14  2:00 PM fiegler Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Other
For quite a while my wife and I thought about taking a guided tour through the Castro and when some friends had recommended FOOTtours (and after checking the internet for ourselves) we decided to be part of the "Come Out To The Castro"-Tour. And guess what? We loved it! We had a hilarious, funny and educating tour through the district, a great guide who gave us an "insight" view of life in the Castro throughout the ages and even quite a few "up-to-date - what's in at the moment" tips. I will definitely check out other tours by FOOTtours as well because this one was simply perfect. THANKS!

The tour guide was very good and very respectul of the group...... We should have toured more of the residential area of the Castro with the beautiful architecture and views. The Historical background was the best...

More historical than current
Sat, Feb 14  1:00 PM kruelzerve Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Not having been to San Francisco in 20 years, thought tour would provide current information about the city. The tour also had more stopping and talking than walking. If we had walked more, we would have covered more of the city. Most information provided was historical. More current information would have been helpful - museums, restaurants etc.

Good walking tour
Mon, Feb 2  1:00 PM SusanGoodman Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I liked the additional questions and quirkiness of this walking tour, however for 3 hrs it did fail to keep me occupied (although this in part was probably my own mood already). It was quite expensive, so do not think I would say it was value fo money.

Great tour for locals and visitors
Mon, Feb 2  1:00 PM mdp13xav Male 30-39 Local Other
I, a local, had never been on this type of tour and thought it looked interesting when looking for activities for my two visiting nephews (age 19). We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour - it was fun, educational, and a great and different way to view and explore (parts of) the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, easy to follow, and interesting. The tour - history-wise - focused mainly on the original settling of the city plus the rebuilding of the city after the 1906 earthquake/fire. Not that this wasn't interesting, but I think I was expecting a bit more comprehensive historical perspective (like what's been going on over the last 100 years?). I may have misinterpreted the description of the tour... and/or maybe three hours just isn't enough time to cover 160 years ;) I would recommend this tour to anyone - and I'll keep it at the top of my list for all future visitors.

.... bring medical supplies and footwear
Sun, Jan 11  1:00 PM dondical Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was an entertaining and informative trip back to the late sixties and it was great to see where all the well known names like Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Charles Manson hung out. Also incredible to see where the Hells Angels lived - across the street from the Dead! It was a delight to see that the spirit of the psycadelic 60's is still alive with stories to be told and landmarks to be admired. Friendly guide Kurt explained that rather than bringing flowers as exhorted by Scott McKenzie, teenagers across america would have been better off bringing medical supplies and footware for the summer of love.

fun and informative
Sat, Jan 3  1:00 PM wgray77 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We very much enjoyed our tour - three hours is a long time, but there was plenty of information provided, and our guide helped make it enjoyable with bits of humor along the way. The notebook of historical pictures also helped put things in perspective - we could see how the neighborhoods used to look, and compare them to the current structures. We always enjoy walking around when visiting a "new" city, and have done walking tours in several cities - this was one of the best we've done, and I'm happy to recommend it to others.
