Great fun and insightful
Sat, Oct 31  2:00 PM AndreVB Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The good humour and fun we expected from this tour was wonderfully delivered by Kim. We were a smaller group and he tailored it to us specifically. We met some great people in the group, lasting friends and Kim provided some wonderful suggestions for eating out and partying on in the area. (...all the suggestions delivered!)

The Come Out to the Castro walking tour was a highlight of our trip to San Francisco. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned much more than I ever expected about the history of the Castro neighborhood. Had a great time.

My wife and I enjoyed our tour and the tour guide was excellent! He showed us all of the Castro district and the walk was fun. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see and learn about an interesting neighborhood of San Francisco.

Totally fascinating insight into Castro
Sat, Aug 15  2:00 PM npeddie Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Kim was an excellent guide. He provided a witty, factual insight into the history of the Castro. It was good to learn about the history of the area in general as well as gay history. Kim's combination of humour, quizzes and quotes made the tour fun as well as informative. And how could we forget having the opportunity to walk around the castro wearing a rainbow feather boa! We would strongly recommend this tour. Don't just think about it - do it!

A Bright Spot on a Cloudy Day

Our guide knows his stuff and was funny at the same time. Some of his photos could have been larger so they would be easier to view. Overall, the 3 hour tour, which lasted about 4.5 hours was fantastic. Tom made the history come alive with his laidback style. He also did a great job in directing our group and keeping the locals in check from taking over with their stories. You get a great deal of information on the people of SF and the architecture. I would recommend this tour to anyone who visits the city. Thanks.

In-depth "feet on the ground" tour of Downtown
Thu, May 7  1:00 PM ddekreon Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
If you like walking and experiencing a city from the ground this tour is for you: walk from Nob Hill, through Union Square, the alleys of Chinatown, and ending in North Beach you really end up with a great feel for the layout and history of San Francisco.

We had a great tour leader named Kim, who was chalk full of information and had a great sense of humor. It was a really great way to hang for a couple hours in the Castro!

What a "Grand Day Out"

For quite a while my wife and I thought about taking a guided tour through the Castro and when some friends had recommended FOOTtours (and after checking the internet for ourselves) we decided to be part of the "Come Out To The Castro"-Tour. And guess what? We loved it! We had a hilarious, funny and educating tour through the district, a great guide who gave us an "insight" view of life in the Castro throughout the ages and even quite a few "up-to-date - what's in at the moment" tips. I will definitely check out other tours by FOOTtours as well because this one was simply perfect. THANKS!

Great tour for locals and visitors
Mon, Feb 2  1:00 PM mdp13xav Male 30-39 Local Other
I, a local, had never been on this type of tour and thought it looked interesting when looking for activities for my two visiting nephews (age 19). We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour - it was fun, educational, and a great and different way to view and explore (parts of) the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, easy to follow, and interesting. The tour - history-wise - focused mainly on the original settling of the city plus the rebuilding of the city after the 1906 earthquake/fire. Not that this wasn't interesting, but I think I was expecting a bit more comprehensive historical perspective (like what's been going on over the last 100 years?). I may have misinterpreted the description of the tour... and/or maybe three hours just isn't enough time to cover 160 years ;) I would recommend this tour to anyone - and I'll keep it at the top of my list for all future visitors.

.... bring medical supplies and footwear
Sun, Jan 11  1:00 PM dondical Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
This was an entertaining and informative trip back to the late sixties and it was great to see where all the well known names like Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Charles Manson hung out. Also incredible to see where the Hells Angels lived - across the street from the Dead! It was a delight to see that the spirit of the psycadelic 60's is still alive with stories to be told and landmarks to be admired. Friendly guide Kurt explained that rather than bringing flowers as exhorted by Scott McKenzie, teenagers across america would have been better off bringing medical supplies and footware for the summer of love.

We very much enjoyed our tour - three hours is a long time, but there was plenty of information provided, and our guide helped make it enjoyable with bits of humor along the way. The notebook of historical pictures also helped put things in perspective - we could see how the neighborhoods used to look, and compare them to the current structures. We always enjoy walking around when visiting a "new" city, and have done walking tours in several cities - this was one of the best we've done, and I'm happy to recommend it to others.
